Flashback
I really hope that they can reach a wider audience with the third single. It seems that they put so much effort and passion in this album, it would be a shame it performed like or worse as FOAM. Hopefully TADIKM gets some good chart positions next week. edit: bit IIRC Green Day never really achieved great chart positions for singles didn't they? They are far more successful in the album charts 🤔
sampy
15 minutes ago, sampy said: Yes they have really good record with ballads, but I think the ballad single should be released after the album is released. BOBD and 21 Guns were the first singles after the album release. And while Still Breathing isn't a ballad, it's emotional. It was also the first single after release. Those tracks are impacting more to the wider audience, let's say mainstream listeners. When the people who likes Green Day because of BOBD or WMUWSE are hearing new, emotional track, they might research what's more on the new album. If the ballad single is released before the album, there's nothing much more to find, and those listeners might not be interested to wait the new album and might forget about it. Edit: Actually Good Riddance was also the first single after Nimrod release.

They are far more successful in the album charts 🤔 If the GD fandom likes the album, at least a good amount of the fandom likes it, it will perform better than FOAMF. That won't be hard unless it gets similar reception to FOAMF. But really, FOAMF's reception was as bad as you can imagine. Among fans, among casual listeners, mainstream audience, critics. I honestly can't see this being just a repeat of FOAMF, based on what we've heard they seem to be going in a more "Green Day" sounding direction which off the bat I think puts it ahead of FOAMF. I wouldn't be expecting it to really do any better than RevRad. Maybe slightly. But those expecting American Idiot, Dookie or even Nimrod/21CB levels of success are honestly mad I think I don't think the issue is with GD being less successful with singles than albums. It's just much easier to reach no. 1 on the US Billboard 200 (albums weekly chart) than the US Hot 100 (singles chart). The Hot 100 chart is filled with mainstream pop and rap stuff, rock is rarely seen there at all these days. Whereas rock bands still get on the Billboard 200, they won't reach the top positions as often but they can still reach the no. 1 position from time to time
That Dude
You guys got me looking into weird stats on singles now: Tracks 2,3 and 4 are most likely to be singles, with 5 examples of each in their current discography. Tracks 1 and 10 are in 2nd place, with 4 singles of each in their current discography. Tracks 5 and 7 have been singles 3 times each. Track 8 has been a single twice. and tracks 6 and 9 must just be absolute garbage or maybe too artistic, because there's never been a 6 or 9 that was a single. Even the planned singles for the trilogy were not 6 or 9. Haha The singles from each album: 4,5,7,8,10 3,4,10,11,14 1,2,4,17, 1,10,11,12 1,2,3,4,11, 2,3,8,10 4,5,12 7 5,12 2,3,7 1,2,3,4, ......................................................... 4 Track 1’s releases 5 Track 2s 5 tracks 3s 5 track 4s, 3 Tracks 5’s 3 Track 7’s 2 Track 8’s 4 Track 10’s NO sixs NO nines

Been playing guiter 30 years but can't make a proper chord. Better stick with cringe videos cause this is poopie. Jeez... hope ekim doesn't stumble upon my band's GD cover over there. GDFan2019
I'm trying to figure out what Bobby Sox, Suzie Chapstick, and Fancy Sauce could possibly be about. Maybe these could be like those song titles that have nothing to do with the actual song?
