Whatever happened with 1972 - the confusion and the supposed delay - it was well worth the wait. It was even worth suffering through the FOAM record and promotion cycle. This is a great Green Day record, a great rock and roll record, and I really think it’s going to blow a lot of your minds when you hear it for the first time. And please, do yourself a favor and do the album justice by listening through a good pair of headphones or speakers! The individual performances of each musician on the record are fantastic. It’s up there with some of Billie, Mike, and Tre’s very best. Taken together, as a cohesive package, this is a classic Green Day album - it sounds fresh and is a progression of their sound, yet is also mature and encapsulating of their decades-spanning discography (as others like @TJChrobo have said). The more I listen, the more subtleties I pick up on and the more amazed I am. Can’t wait for you all to hear it 1972 is just saviors.

I can definitely see the britpop influences there. I really like the intro. But it's kind of underwhelming during the chorus with Billie rhyming with the word "Tonight" four times in a row. HAPPY ZOMBIE UNICORN
I created a PDF booklet from a scan of the listening parties lyrics book I found online. Thought someone here might have fun with it. https://we.tl/t-uNnIMSkS5k It’s not perfect as I had to crop out the fingers of the person who took the original pictures, but it renders quite well when printed (Credits to whoever posted the original pictures online first) Couldn’t find better files around. If someone has a better scan please share Getting ready for the first listen… Will have a full hour available soon… 1

BJA has repeatedly referenced the Gallaghers recently which was surprising enough, but to hear that people are saying a couple of the songs sound like they're influenced by Oasis is something I'd never expect. Back in the 90s the two bands were pretty far apart on the rock spectrum.

Gonzalo17
Every rock song in the world have similar Melody to other one... Think sweet child o mine - shook me all night long for example. There's only 7 tones Major and minor. Changing lyrics, rithym, arregments and productin IS enough

Platypus2000
Tbf the only weak ones are Dilemma, Fancy Sauce and Bobby Sox (what the hell were they thinking for that 😂😂) but overall it’s nowhere near as bad as I expected. Solid. 9

It’s just one big chorus, not enough happens in it for me sorry 🤷🏻♂️ Billie sounds like he’s pushing a poop out the entire time on it too, haven’t been a fan of it from the start tbh 😂
Popular Post AlienVisitor
You can't say Fancy Sauce is weak Apart from the silly title it's one of the best on the album 6
Nezirath270
Dillemma is better than bobby sox like i'll put bobby sox on the lower tier than one eyed bastard. Well that is because one eyed bastard got leaked last year and it's a huge departure from father of all like I take it as long it's not father of all
Popular Post alienlifeform
the really funny thing about this record is that in 2020 BJ claimed that Father of All was something like a history of rock and roll in one album... In my opinion, 'Saviors' is the album where that statement really fits. So much different songs and vibes and a fantastic well produced piece ot art. It will be in the upper shelves of Green Day's catalogue for sure 3

Popular Post HAPPY ZOMBIE UNICORN
I got those first listen chills so many times during my first listen, beautiful record, beautiful songs and perfect production. Going back to work with Cavallo was such a perfect choice for these songs. I need way more listens but I can see several songs getting on my favorite list, but fuck me, Fancy Sauce really gave me those crazy chills and reminded me even if I didn’t need it why I love this band. Going back at it, I’m so happy they can manage to put out a record like this in 2024. So much love. 5

I know Noel has talked shit about Green Day before, but he's talked shit about everyone. Liam even talked shit about the mighty George Harrison. Imagine that. Nope 😤 I was going to do my favorite thing in the world, reach out to Warner customer service. I wish GD would stop doing store exclusives because I need to stop fucking with their store. It sucks.
Popular Post Christian's Inferno!
8 hours ago, AlienVisitor said: My only problem with this record is NO multi-part songs.. Why Billie?? Just why Seems like such a weird issue to have with the album. Not only would that make it less of its own thing and just like it's trying to recreate Jesus of Suburbia. Yet again. But the songs stand on their own, they don't need to be combined to be "better" 31 minutes ago, Ryan said: Oh fuck you! Top two or three for sure. Love this album The only criticism for Corvette Summer that people seem to have is its repetitive chorus. But if that's literal the only issue, then I don't understand the complaint. It has a great hook, great production, great instrumentation and it's just a feel good song
