New album - Saviors - Out January 19th

So many times during this album where I'm reminded of other songs from other artists but the songs don't sound too derivative or unoriginal. The songs still stand on their own even if I can hear similarities between melodies. During Fancy Sauce, I can hear Weezer's Haunt You Every Day (the only song from Make Believe I actually like). I hear Sweet Child O Mine in Saviors. Bobby Sox does sound a bit like Chester Bennington like that one review said but it doesn't sound like Billie is trying to impersonate him (or else it would sound like shit, Chester's voice can't just be replicated). Coma City to me sounds kind of like it's from the most recent Network album except it's better than anything on there. When the songs are just this good, it's so much easier to forgive any kind of repetition or recycling. It just sounds natural and inspired. Not like lazy attempts to rip off other better songs. I think this album has an energy we've not heard since 21CB. The trilogy and RevRad, and even FOAMF had energy on some of the tracks but rarely do these albums go as hard as some of the tracks on this thing.

While waiting for the new Green Day album I took some time to listen to this new song by weezer called Fancy Sauce. It's really, really good!

I support that choice buuut I think I'm most homicidal towards KYE.

Would they really open the set with Burnout? I'd love that but it almost seems too good to be true...

Me too. I don't like to say that because I know it's a once in a lifetime experience for fans but it takes sooooo long and is so tedious

That's why I'm torn because it is a great opportunity for fans and it's super sweet of them to bring people up on stage and give away guitars...but when you've seen GD more than once you just sit there like....okayyyy....this could've ended 5 minutes ago....

It's also easy for them to just pick another song.  Do Brainstew, do WICA, etc.  And it'd be more interesting to the kid/crowd if it was a song they actually knew.

Seems like this one is going to do well.   Could this influence the next record Green Day makes?  Oh yeah!   If Saviors is a blend of Dookie and American Idiot, then where could they go next?  A blend of nimrod and Insomniac?     21st Century Breakdown and Nimrod?

Jason's in like 8,394 bands, he'll be fine.

I do get the whole ode to their roots thing but it really would be so much better for everyone if they used one of their own songs - they have a big enough catalog, they don’t need to be doing Knowledge or Rock n Roll All Nite!

I like Corvette Summer more since hearing Billie say it's about listening to records more than car-y stuff.  Haha

After multiple spins of the new album, I can definitely agree that it's some of their best work in a while!

"Father to a Son" and "Strange Days Are Here to Stay" are the highlights for me - them being reminiscent of the Trilogy. In fact, you can hear nuances from all over the band's discography throughout the record.

...Which is also why I can't just vibe with "Bobby Sox". It's like they took "I Was A Teenage Teenager" and somehow made it worse.

Other than that, mostly solid work. If I didn't hold ¡Tré! in such high regard, I'd say Saviors is Green Day's best album since 21st Century Breakdown.

Bobby Sox and Fancy Sauce are getting the most flames at the moment, but it's close.  Goodnight Adeline and Living in the 20s are also getting some decent flame numbers and no.  There is no explanation for what I'm talking about.

Really? Lyrically speaking at least Bobby Sox is somewhat amusing.. I Was a Teenage Teenager is just cheesy.

Bobby Sox is also one of my least favorites, but it's still miles better than ANY song on FOAMF.

Yeah I'm not getting the IWATT comparison with Bobby Sox. BS isn't my favourite track on the album but it's leagues ahead of IWATT imo
