Popular Post Saviour
Just to confirm - as I've seen it a lot on this thread - "Coma" and "Comma" are very different things. Y'all want to hear a song about punctuation, listen to a Sesame Street album. 😆 Edited January 16 by Saviour 3 3

Easier for most folk to go to the stores on a Saturday and it leaves time for the social media buzz we are getting this week and I’m just ignoring all the covers, recordings etc, haven’t (and won’t listen) to any of them. Also, if you have been listening to crap recordings, imagine how good the album is going to sound. I see it as a win win.
Popular Post DeJennsitized
I think the listening parties were genius personally. I’ve been listening to the album on repeat since via the recording I have, and all I can think about is how it’s going to sound when the real thing comes out 🤩 and I personally really enjoyed my own experience at the listening event!

Popular Post AlienVisitor
I was skeptical about Saviors at first listen, but now I can confirm it's the best they've done Since American Idiot. Billie sure wasn't kidding when he said it might be the best record they've ever done. And oh what a fking Closure song, best one since whatsername. The guitar solo at the end is just spine chilling. Can't wait for the 19th. 5

Yeah that was my thought going into it I will hear the songs hear the lyrics, so I'm going into knowing the album will be good and with the cd quality sound it will only be bigger and better now I'm trying to chill give the songs a rest until Friday so not to wear myself out on them

I’m still confused on what they mean when they say Saviors “bridges the gap” between Dookie and AI… ? Maybe they just think it’s better then 21CB, which I understand being almost a taboo thing to say for that generation of fans that started to listen to this band around that time, but it’s a legitimate opinion. I still have to listen to Saviors, and I grew up and adore 21CB in many ways, but also recognize it’s probably their record that aged worse. It’s derivative, more derivative then Insomniac when looking at Dookie, and several songs became a hard skip for me as of today. Then it also contains some of my absolute favorites, and it just has a special place in my hearth since I was 17 and in love with it when it came out, it’s the first release I waited for as a fan, and much more. The “bridge the gap” thing is something the band started to mention, and as I understand it is both from a sound and lyrics perspective, a mix of the maturity they got with AI and the playfulness of Dookie. IMHO what they tried and mainly failed to do with RevRad. Then again, still have to listen to Saviors and only heard 4 songs out of 15, so will hold my judgement on all of this.

Miko
Haven't listened any leaks. I'm really excited about this album although I have hard time to believe this is finally the album that is better than Dos! which I've adored for years. American Dream is fucking fantastic single and definitely the best single (Bang Bang wasn't good) since AI days. It's crazy how poor Green Day's singles usually are, but this time they've made all the right choices. Dilemma is fantastic aswell. Not a fan of One Eyed Bastard nor Look Ma but they're not bad either. Friday couldn't come soon enough. 1

I like this take - 21CB was also my first release as a fan so it will always feel special for that reason. And I agree that it derivative of AI for sure. It’s so interesting because whenever the band releases new music, we as fans often try to compare it to their previous albums or “sounds.” At what point is something a natural continuation of a theme/POV/sound versus a secondhand imitation? I saw a comment the other day that said something akin to “Saviors sounds like RevRad era sprinkled with Nimrod and Insomniac.” Like, that just means it sounds like Green Day. 😂 I can’t wait for Saviors to be out so we can have these kinds of discussions and comparisons!

Popular Post pacejunkie punk
Just going by the lyrics I find it interesting that Fancy Sauce ends the album on a pretty dark note. He typically prefers to end albums on hopeful notes it’s why See The Light and Ordinary World are album closers. This time he said fuck it. 8

Yeah, I think for 21CB that is more present as it is almost from any perspective a record that ride the success of its predecessor and try to do more with it (the concept-ish format, rock-opera/epic-ish sound, political/social commentary, even aesthetic). It worked back then for that generation of fans that got in love with Green Day through AI, but 15 years later it has a bitter-sweat effect. While AI is a records that will stay in pop music history and is easy and fun to listen to 20 years later, cannot say the same for 21CB. The personal value of it is another story. 5 minutes ago, pacejunkie punk said: Just going by the lyrics I find it interesting that Fancy Sauce ends the album on a pretty dark note. Didn’t read the lyrics of Fancy Sauce, but based on what you are saying seems like another throwback at AI
