The 99th revolution
Unpopular opinion but kill the dj is actually pretty catchy (and it is indeed repetitive with the dj killing) There's also know your enemy, christians inferno, here comes the shock, shes a rebel 1 minute ago, Christian's Inferno! said: Honestly, that 1981 clip sounds better than basically anything I've heard from the first 4 songs. Yes, lyrically the song isn't anything special and the chorus is repetitive but I've found that the "repetitive chorus" critique is probably the most overused criticism I've seen in music, and it's especially prevalent when people talk about Green Day. It's obviously a valid criticism to have sometimes but a song can still be fantastic despite it. Some of the best Green Day songs are very repetitive. Let Yourself Go is basically as repetitive as a song can get. It's also probably the best song on Uno, and has more energy than anything on the trilogy. If a hook is catchy enough and doesn't get annoying, I couldn't really care less how repetitive it is Has the album actually leaked? I'm just wondering. If it has leaked, I'm sure it'll be easy to find online in a few hours anyway. No need to ask around for a leak

They/Tim Armstrong are fantastic at making it work for them, once they've done one chorus live you can sing along to the next one. It's not a bad thing. I've done it, too. I don't often but the one music video my band did was for a song with a repetitive chorus. 🤷♂️ 3

Flynn
I'll share here too, the listening parties have been encouraged to allow phones because they basically want it to leak. So expect a lot of leaks on hashtags and social media in an hour or two.

Thankfully I can make it to a listening party (where I won't be recording anything), the last thing I wanna do is hear shitty cell phone recordings of the album. I would definitely just wait til the 19th otherwise. 2

I think it sounds fantastic. Agreed about the repetition criticism. Green Day has a lot of songs with repetitive lyrics that are great. Dilemma is almost all chorus and I think it’s fantastic.
Platypus2000
1981 literally rips off Monkey Wrench by Foo Fighters, the backing vocal melody and riffs are exactly the same 😂 I like the sound and production of this album so far but they’re seriously lacking in creativity it seems.

That’s a stretch to say the least, that song has chords used by so many rock and punk rock songs. Saying this you should say that foo fighters ripped off Ramones on too tough to die just to give one of many examples. Rock was not invented in the 00’s.

It’s not a stretch at all if you know anything about music. I know there are common progressions and I’m not some sort of boomer but there’s a way of doing it. I literally said I like the sound and direction they were going for, I’m not hating I’m being realistic. Pink and now Foo Fighters? I seen the lyrics for Bobby Sox too and they are literally something a child can write 😂 Before anyone starts on me. I literally paid over £400 to see them at Wembley in June, they are my favourite band. But I’ll call them out when they’re being uninspiring and uncreative. Simple as.
