I wonder if they are using the photo reference to make the point of governments that divide and conquer and the despair and violence that results. It’s not specific to the Troubles but it’s a symptom of a larger problem and one that leaders have done for centuries. We’re being divided up on cultural and political lines in a similar way as in NI over religion (or India or Rwanda or take your pick) and the video really shows that. That last image of the guy with the rifle shooting the woman (not a zombie) is really powerful.  They’re making a broader statement of the way our leaders have divided us so they can stay in power.

I'm from England but with family from Mayo, and it's mindboggling how little of it is/was taught to us as kids. A complete airbrushing of history which is very typical of the UK. We had actual terrorism in our own countries (whichever part of the Isles you're from) and yet not a single thing taught, you had to go out and find it yourself. Madness.

It is a point of frustration about how little of this is known or taught in UK Schools.

Don’t get me started about the food shortage (Or Famine) that happened in Ireland when it was under English rule. 
 

The English had food made in Ireland sent back to the UK and only offered it to Irish people if they changed religion (from catholic to protestant) or refused to stop speaking the Irish language.

 

This resulted in over a million people dying and a million people leaving the country. The English also took land off Irish families (including my own)

Apologies for the rant .

I guess my point, if any, is Green Day may want to thread carefully around this.

 

It’s still very much an emotional topic in Ireland.

 

I am sure they will treat the situation with the dignity and respect it deserves .

This is why I’m waiting to pre-order here in the US. If I buy now and they announce the tour and you have to buy something again to get a presale code I’m gonna be pissed. I thought the US tour was being announced with this drop

I think you are right here and I assume for most people, the pic will be new anyway and they have changed the boy, my fear is many people will just see it and react.  Or maybe not, who knows.

Now it makes perfect sense why the mods were so strict about us not sharing the OEB leak but didn't care too much about the other FOAM leftover leaks, like Fever, and that other one that goes "Down on ecstasy baby!"

I mean I think that was more because OEB had a full leak whereas the others were only short clips. I doubt they had any idea that OEB was on the album. In fact pretty sure Matt's comments made it seem like he didn't think it was on the album
