Also the missing the BVs during the outro which I think is 'it's all over now' but that's pretty hard to even hear in the first place let alone decipher the lyrics

I still haven't heard the song. I don't know why; this is the first time since Trilogy that The Boys actually perform a song that isn't released yet to the world (assuming Fuck These People will never be released and no footage of it surfaces to the world and 1981 ends up getting released) but for whatever reason I'm eager to wait for studio version before checking live version out. Am I stupid for doing this? Should I just say fuck it and hear how does modern Green Day sound like?

if blink really release their high anticipated new album in october, i doubt we will hear anything from gd about 1972, they will (have to) wait until the hype for new blink music dies down a bit

If Blink releases the album in the first half of October, Green Day still has the second half for the single

Yeah, they aren't really competing but working together.   It would be amazing if we got Green Day, Offspring and Blink-182 this time instead of Fall Out Boy and Weezer.

imo maybe unlikely, but not impossible

blink have gained super high popularity and attention, surrounding themselves as persons (marks cancer, tom being back, travis being part of kardashian clan somehow now) and with their new song and album anticipation, sold out shows, edging being their top song on alternative charts since their old days

i would go as far as saying that blink have currently the better "momentum"

ofc there wont be hard delays, but imaging green days management plan to make the lp announcement etc on last october week, but blink may release their new album on last october week, i can totally see the gd announcement getting postponed for 1 week for example, maybe unlikely, but not impossible

Blink’s momentum is strictly on the fact that this is temporary. They’re still horrible live and let’s be honest Edging is a horrible song.

I’d rather be Green Day right now. They have been consistent over a longer span of time. 
 

Even with Blink’s highs, they still never reached the heights of Green Day during Dookie, AI or even 21cb for that matter. Green Day has a much wider fan base and appeals to a wider demographic.

I mean GD is definitely the much better band imo but blink have been commercially more successful since 2016. California performed better than RevRad, even if its fanbase was mixed on the album and the introduction of Skiba. FOAMF and Blink's album Nine were both not commercially successful albums but FOAMF seemed to be a bigger commercial and critical failure than Nine. And due to Tom's return and the release of Edging and their upcoming album, they're almost definitely going to continue to have more commercial success than Green Day whenever they announce their new album.

I don't even like Edging and I much prefer Green Day but I think that's definitely going to be the case, even if I end up preferring the next GD album over the blink album. I still don't see them delaying the album because of blink though. I don't think either album is going to be hugely successful anyway, both bands are long passed their commercial peak imo. Of course I'm happy to be proved wrong
