[FAKE] November 26th, 1988 - 924 Gilman Street footage

So, I made a 2 hour retrospective video about Green Day's live history between 1987 to 1993, someone saw the video and contacted me on Instagram that they had a recording of Green Day playing at Gilman Street on November 26th, 1988. I kinda doubted this was genuine, but they told me they needed to digitize their VHS copy and that they'd send it over to me. I waited a few days and they actually did send me something.

Now, I'm genuinely curious abut the authenticity of this recording? I've never seen it anywhere else before, the video quality looks like shit and I could barely see anything, but the audio nearly sounds like a soundboard recording. I'm curious to know what anyone else thinks, we've never really had a recording of a Green Day show from this far back before, I wanted to hear other people's thoughts.

To add more context to the person who sent this to me, they also told me:

"I do warn you its not the full show rather clips throughout a lot of songs are only partial versions"
"though the sound quality is decent"

"Yeah i got it from a friend many years ago it was filmed on Super 8 film then dubbed to vhs and back then a roll of film could only film for live 5-6 so it’s four clips of the show I also have a few other early Green Day concerts I can send if you want"

The footage is also only in 240p quality, I asked them if they could maybe send me it in better condition, but they never got back to me about that. They said they'd send the rest some time later.

  • Cooper Castille changed the title to November 26th, 1988 - 924 Gilman Street footage

This is a video that was apparently circulating around a decade ago and was determined to be a fake -- the audio matches another early show but with added distortion to disguise it

I’m not sure but I’ll try to find out

Possibly audio from 5/25/90. Anyway, someone with more tech skills than me was able to determine The audio and video did not match

This would also be too early for At the Library since it wasn’t on either 1989 Gilman recordings

Yeah, that's what threw me off at first. "At the Library" didn't get played at Gilman until 1990 lol
