Tim Armstrong produced Try This in 2003.  So What was produced by Martin.

How did this song surface in the first place?

One Eyed Bastard is a song that was confirmed when it was added to Billie Joe’s SESAC database. SESAC is in charge of collecting royalties on Green Day’s song catalogue.

Based on the date of the song’s entry into the SESAC database it appears to have been recorded around the same time the band were working on The Network album Money Money 2020 Part II.

ONE EYED BASTARD     SESAC work number: 710731275

Apparently a GD demo leaked called One Eyed Bastard in 2021 but disappeared pretty quickly.

There is something Sum 41 over this song imo. Something similiar to the SBM album of theirs.

Fun and catchy song.

If to be officialy released the rip of off P!nk would be worse than the Pollyana rip of off Hoffs potato fries (the ones who knows knows)

I hear the Sum 41 in it too.

if the song "American Idiot" was released today, the comments wouldn't be much different

I was literally just thinking this when I was reading back to see what people thought.

It's like that friend you take to the movie theater and no matter what movie you see they're a critic of it.

This could be a single.. and have nothing to do with the upcoming album... just thinking... which makes it even more irritating that it was leaked.

Perhaps that’s why the band or the management seem pretty pissed that this one leaked because of possible copyright infringement.

Where the fuck do you get that they're pretty pissed ? Y'all live in a fantasy land for real

Also no one pointed out the verses have melody from 8675309

Even if there was a case to be had It would be a waste of a lawsuit right now Pink or whoever owns the publishing would spend more money on lawyers than they’d get in court since GD has not released this song they have made zero money off it

Sanity Loan or some else close to the band mentioned this in the 1972 thread.

This is the issue with being as big as Green Day. Countless bands have ripped them off and now theyre at a point where theyve made so many songs theyre getting picked apart for random verses or lines sounding like other songs.

Finally listened to this song and I really think it would be a banger live. Also, pretty catchy that I think it would get some solid airplay on the radio.

I thought this exact same thing about the entirety of Father of All Dot Dot Dot.

Maybe P!nk is in The Network and got her hands on One Eyed Bastard when they stole the masters to Cigarettes and Valentines!

Yeah! Pretty sure that's her at the beginning of Ivankkka Is A Nazi!

Look at this-you don't log on for a few weeks and look what you miss!lol! Just listened to the song...and I like it! I really like the guitars, and especially the 'stop start' ending (very technical term here!) 😉 I think it's slightly 'heavier' and would sound great live. I can't make out all the lyrics, but I think the 'say oh' bit is a cute nod Billie!🤣 I can't hear Pink it in like a lot of other people.🤷‍♀️

I was hoping it was a bit different from the leaked version. I wasn't expecting much though. The version we heard already sounded pretty complete. The vocals don't really sound like the rest of the songs to me though. They aren't FOAMF vocals but they're not really Saviors vocals either, based on the singles we've heard. So I was hoping they were changed a bit but whatever, it's an alright song.

I feel like the hand claps are going to be something that everyone criticizes this track about once it officially releases though. I've been critical of the overuse of hand claps on FOAMF but I don't think the presence of hand claps on a song is a bad thing and it doesn't seem that out of place on this track anyway. The fact that this is the only song out of the 5 we've heard that has them (unless studio version of 1981 has them) indicates it's not going to be overused on this album like it was on FOAMF

Today I listen to it again, what a great song! I’m glad that is part of the album!

"So what? I'm still a Deep Purple riff."

"So what? I am the passenger."

I love this song lol. I don’t really hear it being that similar to the Pink song (I get the comparison, but they’re quite distinct to me) and I think it’s really catchy and fun.

It reminds me of Say Goodbye, which I love, but maybe people also don’t like that song lol? 😂

Ja, because they stole...uh were inspired by Iggy Pop as well.

I guess Holiday's riff was inspired by The Passenger too, but the whole song is something else.

Sounds good to me, the bass feels quite high in the mix from the clip, which I like.

I knew that predated Pink, just never pinned it down, not a big Deep Purple fan so thanks.
