Popular Post A Worry Rock
Got my vinyl box set at a local record store today! The indie silver box sets are numbered, don't know about the standard box set. It doesn't say out of how many. 5
That Dude
It's either kill your friends or compromise, there is no in between, haha! I love how Black Eye Liner became two opposite sides of the spectrum. Anybody else trying to sing along and messing up royally because you've been singing Nimrod the same way for 25 years and the words are different. When I learn these, it better add to my memory and not replace the old ones, or I'm going to be very angry with you, Billie Joe. Of course I was one that complained that demolicious was too similar to the final product, so I'ma stop typing now. I'm about to rank the songs of Nimrod.
That Dude
Ranking of the Nimrod songs. What I realized is that while the variety is great, there is nothing better than the style of Scattered, Worry Rock and Uptight. If Green Day were going to go full AC/DC and never change their sound, that's the sound I would want them to use. 1. Scattered (perfection section) 2. Worry Rock 3. Good Riddance 4. Uptight 5. Hitchin a Ride 6. Walking Alone 7. The Grouch 8. King For A Day (near perfect section) 9. Redundant 10. Jinx 11. Nice Guys Finish Last 12. Platypus - I Hate You 13. All The Time (I could part ways with these songs if I absolutely had to) 14. Prothedichead 15. Reject 16. Take Back 17. Last Ride In 18. Haunshinka

grinsoniko
I agree, love when he does harmonies, but I do think his leads work amazingly for The Network

Before the trilogy, Mike would like have background vocals or would harmonise with Billie but that's basically absent starting from 2012. Besides that one line on Sex Drugs & Violence, I don't think I've heard Mike sing in any Green Day song American Eulogy too he does a full verse

Mato
It's great to hear those demos, Black Eyeliner in particular The only thing I'm slightly disappointed in is the mixing of the live show, especially since CLA did it. There's too much overall ambience/PA in the mix and it lacks some bass. Take a listen to The Grouch from Redundant single below. It slightly lack high end that XXV version has, and it is muddy in lower mids, but the overall kick - snare - bass ratio is still a lot better and cleaner than the XXV version. It's too bad, I was expecting it to be a lot better 😕 It's still awesome to have this one in the collection tough. I've been waiting for the full show release for 15 years!
pacejunkie punk
Billie tells the audience that they’re recording a live album so why was it never released until now?

Q-Man
I really like the Desensitized demo. The lyrics of the final version are much better but the demo lyrics feel more angsty.
Popular Post The Grohl
Finally listening to my CD box set and I really love the live show. It's a cool look into how snotty and bratty Green Day was. Sure, they have some of those tendencies now, but there's such a difference between this type of show and their stadium shows. Billie is way more focused on being an all around crowd pleasing frontman. Here he gives absolutely no shits and I love it. Also, it's pretty nice to hear a punchy show without the "HEY OHSS" and the extended solos or breakdowns. And the banter "No I'm not getting naked tonight....okay I will." And holy shit he quotes Beautiful People during Longview?! That's hilarious!!! Definitely didn't expect that and as a (former) Manson fan it made me chuckle. As for the demos, it's just a cool listen to hear how unpolished and unfinished the lyrics were. Some of them are just funny. All around I think it's a great box set and I wish they would do more of these for album anniversaries. Plus, the added goodies like the patch and sticker are nice touches. Wish the booklet had more to it. But overall, the set feels more rewarding and satisfying than just a remaster like the Insomniac anniversary vinyl. Sure, that was nice, but give me something more than a re-pressing and new art please. 4

But then you got a side eye for how low KFAD and HAR are.

suffoKate
Place inside my head may not be everyone else’s favorite (or apparently not even well liked), but the band decided to include it, and even put it second in the track list for a good reason, and that makes me feel like I’m in good fucking company! 3

Has anyone here said they didn’t like it, from what I recall it’s gotten a lot of praise. I think Mike’s songs should get more recognition by the band this one is a bop
