Does anyone know how many boxsets were pressed? I want to know how limited the run was...if at all.

It looks like most my local record stores have got copies of both the black and silver in stock.

(Still glad I pre-ordered for my comfy AF crewneck - rocking it at the office today aha)

Right? He has this beautiful tone to his voice that he doesn’t always use but every so often on demos or ballads you hear it and it melts your soul 🫠

Reminds me of the Stay the Night demo!

So my vinyl set is going to arrive next week, can someone let me know the size of the poster that's included with it? I'd like to buy a frame this weekend

It was a Mandela effect, but I could swear Reject was on the concert tracklist. It was played at soundcheck, i even wondered how they would fit it in the middle of the show.

I guess sometimes my mind plays tricks on me

Black Eye Liner has so many seeds of other songs.

Kill Your Friends Melody

Prechorus of Church on Sunday

One line from Rotting

A spiritual predecessor to the studio hey-ho from Stay the Night.

Place Inside My Head is so good!!

I'm sayin'! Howcome this one isn't as talked about more? Hehe. It reminds of a mix between Riverdales, Ramones, Screeching Weasel, maybe Fifteen and Crimpshrine and even Pinhead Gunpowder.

Ya'll should blast this

Rotting predates Black Eyeliner as that song is from the Insomniac sessions

Same thing for this one:

NGFL was definitely taken from an SD master tape, but I will admit that It’s harder to tell with Good Riddance. My guess is that they probably used a more sophisticated algorithm considering It’s their biggest hit.

Just got my CD set! The patch and sticker are cool but the booklet is a waste. Just photo collages and no real content. Even the BBC one was better. Stories, liner notes, anything readable would have been fun.

Glad you got your box set! A bummer about the book. Does anyone know if the vinyl box set has a better booklet?

Finally figured out what the KYF part of Black Eyeliner reminds me of- a faster version of Iron and Wine's Radio War.  Which is funny, because I never though of that song when listening to KYF.

I'm forgetting, is the live show included in the box set from the Electric Factory '98? If so, they definitely played Reject that night. That cut is on one of the Redundant singles

'97.

And no, Reject was only played live twice, at least according to setlist fm, none of those was the show recorded for this release, nor the Redundant single, that one was from the soundcheck, it wasn't part of that show.

And can we talk about Place Inside My Head? What a great surprise. I swear Mike should have gotten one song an album just like George Harrison did. He doesn’t write a lot but the when he does they’re super poppy. This song is so bouncy and fun, has a Riverdales crossed with The Monkees vibe.  Mike deserves more vinyl space than he gets.

Governator should’ve been included in American Idiot!!!

I don’t know about that one it’s probably Mike’s weakest effort but I love JAR, Scumbag, Emenius Sleepus

Regarding Mike's vocals. I like him as a backing vocalist, his vocals work really well with Billie's but I don't think he's really had any backing vocals on any album since 21CB. I like seeing him make the occasional appearance on lead vocals but his lead vocals are rarely a main highlight for me. The only exception I think is American Eulogy. His section in Homecoming is fine, but it's probably my least favourite part of the song and none of his other lead vocal performances really stand out to me all that much. I don't really care for either of The Network albums (especially the more recent one), but the songs that stand out are usually the songs with Billie doing the lead vocals

It doesn't fit into the album's story at all. Where in the tracklisting would it fit? It makes a lot more sense just as a bonus track you listen to after the album. Besides, it's just not as good as the actual album tracks. It's not a bad song but American Idiot is an album that doesn't have a single song that's below average by GD standards, at least imo.

Mike also has backing vocals on I think it was ¡Tre! On the song “Sex Drugs And Violence” isn’t he the one who does the “I don’t want to grow up to be an imbecile” line?

Well that's just a single lead vocal. Before the trilogy, Mike would like have background vocals or would harmonise with Billie but that's basically absent starting from 2012. Besides that one line on Sex Drugs & Violence, I don't think I've heard Mike sing in any Green Day song

Gotta say that the demos are great. Sad to learn that When it's time was rejected three times now

Seems this demos are from very very early versions, judging by the lyrics. I'd wish that they included a Scattered demo, but at least we got something :)
