Its definitely going to happen at some point. There were actually so many great songs written at the time too. Would love to hear a better version of Things I Heard Today.

its a great time for them to open the vault, the significance of their new music is low. If songs from c&v and this nimrod demo thing end up having impact its a great way to refresh their setlist live. It definitely works too, we’ve seen them bring some unreleased songs into the setlist and have huge impact. When its time is an example. I remember that was a big thing when they added it

I wonder if we’ll ever get a studio version of Minnesota Girl

Old Nimrod era interview from Bikini magazine.  Funny to read this now. There's some opinions in here that did not age well ("I don't think anyone wants to see big rock shows anymore. It's a passing phase.")

Hopefully his “I hate long songs” phase is over too!!!

TC: We almost kill people everywhere we go.

BJA: I'm so sick of almost killing people. When are we actually gonna do it?

It amazes me that it never made an album.

For a song like You Irritate Me you can understand why it was dropped. I'm sure if it was selected Rob would have helped them extend it to about 2 and a half minutes with some other parts but the songs on Nimrod are mostly better than that.

A song like Minnesota Girl is actually a well crafted song, it's catchy and fits that Warning and C&V era really well.

I really love that 2002 era for Green Day, I think C&V would have had some staples for us fans. Obviously prioritizing American Idiot and 21cb was a must for their career trajectory but we really did miss out on something really cool when that unfolded.

I don't want long songs just for the sake of being long though.

Forever Now and DRB suffer from some repetitive parts - they're both decent songs but they don't hold the impact of Homecoming or JOS.

Even American Eulogy being a bit shorter is still a much better version of a long song than those two.

The most exciting tracks of this nimrod are:

knowledge live versión with trumpets

Acoustic when it's time (i imaginé It better than good riddance)

Rest si the same than always (when i come around, longview, she and f.o.d live and demos sounding worse than mastered tracks of same songs)

I wonder if they're planning to do something bigger in 2024 for Dookie's 30th

As much as I'd like to see them do right by Dookie, I've been enjoying re-living the album cycle exactly 25 years on. I feel like by just focusing on the current 25th anniversary, they're able to dedicate more care to each album. A deluxe reissue so close to [what I hope will be] Warning might stretch them thin and saturate the market.

American Idiot’s 20th anniversary is also that year

One thing I don’t get is, today is the Nimrod anniversary, but we only got the single and the box set comes out in January. Why couldn’t they release the single back in July and then the box set today?

Possibly has to do with when they decided to do this and slow vinyl production

I'm so hyped for 1972 25th anniversary!!

1997?

I mean, it was a great year for music across the board.

I'll allow it.

I wonder if the FOAM 25th Anniversary set will actually come with fewer tracks

Well if they're looking to improve the album, yeah. Get rid of Teenage Teenager and Oh Yeah!
