Sunday, so the 31st!

So excited and jealous of everyone attending this 'secret' show. I wonder what songs they'll be playing, and if there will be any new ones!

They have to be playing new songs. Have they ever done a secret show just to play old songs?

The Brixton, UK show had no new songs. Was more like a warm up show for Reading and Leeds

Might depend on who intends to go. I would imagine some fans would definitely line up from very early morning (might even have one person hold the line for multiple others as has happened at other shows in the past)

I REALLLLLLY wish that would be stopped by all venues (one person holding the line for multiple people). Aside from line cutters, that is my biggest pet peeve about lining up all day for concerts.

Me too! Those that buy a ticket for someone to hold a place for them and their friends all day too!

YES! So you get in line and think "Oh yay!!! I'm only third in line!!!! WOOT!!!!".......then just before doors open, each of those 3 people before you have 5 or so people join them out of nowhere, and now you're, what, 15th, 16th in line. That's BS. Where were YOU all day while I was out here lining up?!?! I hate that shit. Ok. My rant is done. LOL

Has anybody gotten anything from The Metro after signing up for the newsletter? I haven't.....and I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Believe me I've seen 8-10 people overnight turn into 100+ before doors!

There's also those who "know everyone", arrive at 4pm and stand to chat with whoever they know that's closest to the front and never move!

Don't get me wrong I've nothing against people taking toilet breaks, grabbing something to eat or having a quick nap in the car but too many people really take the piss.

My rant over!

No, you're right. There is an etiquette to lining up. Tons of people need to learn it. You arrive with all parties that will attend concert.........all of you wait for at least a few hours.....let everybody behind see that they are there.....then you can start taking turns, one at a time, to go get food, pee, nap in car, whatever.

But yeah, you're right. The people that "know everybody", and conveniently wanna stay and talk to the people toward the front of the line. LOL

People who line up overnight need to quit that bullshit so everyone can come to the show well rested, fed and at a reasonable hour and have a good time without lots of unnecessary drama. Now that’s my rant.

At a Green Day show there'd still be drama anyway

On the one hand I'm really excited, on the other so bummed, cause I don't have a chance to see this show 😭 Why didn't they play any club show in Europe this summer? 😭

I think they will play a new song or two and release the album in November 2022 or early 2023.

I can't predict how it will be for Green Day's show. But I went to the Foo Fighters gig at the Metro back in 2017, which was also a Lollapalooza aftershow. I drove down to Chicago and arrived around 2-3 pm, and there were maybe 20-30 people lined up. Once they opened up the store for some of the merchandise, that line dwindled down to somewhere around or under 10! More people arrived over time, but a lot of those people just bought merchandise and left, which was really odd. There were a few people up front in the line that didn't even have tickets, but were openly offering people online hundreds of dollars for an extra ticket. Maybe even a little more than that! ( think I knew one

Right before doors opened, the line split into two... the people that bought tickets and people that were on the "band list". By that point, I think I was around #4 in the "regular" line, despite not arriving until the mid-afternoon. Some of the people who had lined up hadn't secured a ticket yet, so went back in the line in hopes of getting one after doors opened.

In terms of why not as many people had lined up early on in the day, I feel a lot of it had to do with just how small of a show it was (1200 people is about the limit of the Metro, I think?). So not that many people had tickets in the first place, particularly if some were able to buy two of them. And maybe some people were actually coming in from the festival, hence the meaning behind the show and its later start time.

Great show, btw! I was in front of Dave Grohl the whole time and even exchanged a few words with him during the course of the night, After the band hit the three hour mark, he asked everyone what time it was, and I just held out my phone so he could see it. He then shouted the time out to everyone and the band proceeded to play for another half hour!

If you have a chance to see Green Day in a small venue and can make the trip, you should absolutely try for a ticket.

You were in front of our rock n roll lord and savior Dave Grohl??  :runaround:Lucky!!! I tried to get tickets to that...no dice. I would love to see Dave Grohl in person some day. Just because he's a cool dude. He's the goodest boy in rock music.

Haha, yep! I've been lucky enough to meet Dave in the past and had a few interactions with him from the rail over the years. But he is an amazing performer. That show is definitely in the Top 3 of the Foo shows I've seen over the years (which I've seen a lot of, lol). And it was definitely the closest one in terms of actual distance from the stage - I think Dave's mic stand was 4-6 feet away from me on a low stage, if that gives you any idea.

I'll always be grateful for that show though and being able to secure a ticket in the first place, particularly after the terrible news a few months ago.

I‘ve seen them a couple of times. Rock am Ring 2018 was probably one of the funniest shows ever. Dave lost his voice after 3-4 songs so his bandmates stepped to the mic to sing for the rest of the set 😂
