“Other countries have their problems too but I don’t know about them” is such a US stereotype

Maybe because we’re willfully ignorant but also maybe because our own are so all consuming. It’s why he wants to peace out. I don’t blame him.

Grass is always greener, Billie. I can see the London thing being heavily criticized. It's easy when you're super rich to be a "citizen of the world." I get what he's saying but it reeks of privilege. So much for being an advocate of change. Just peace out, I guess.

What does Billie mean anyway when he says any band worth its salt should make a record like FOAM in its career? A record like what? What does FOAM represent in a band’s evolution exactly?

It’s fine that he loves it, I just want more detail. What about it does he think makes it an important album? Is it just the fact that it subverts expectations and sounds nothing like the rest of their catalog? Is that what he thinks any band worth their salt should do? I wish he’d elaborate.

Tbh, I appreciate Billie's honesty that he's not very informed about what's going on in the world outside of his home country, because that's true for like at least 95% of people. I mean, I'm pretty ignorant about what's going on in most places of the world. Ik what's happening in my country & in the US to a degree. But idk that much about what's going on in the rest of the world. Ignorance is not a good thing but pretending to know everything that's going on is just as bad, if not worse

What he said about FOAMF is interesting. Obviously, the band is not going to say that "I hate that record that we just released a couple years ago" and I never thought that they hated it or that they just released it to get out of their contract. But I am curious about him pointing out that he especially likes side two of the album because that seems to be the case with most of the fans that they prefer side 2. So does he not care for the singles as much? (Does he agree with me that Teenage Teenager is an abomination of a song :P)

He likes it so much that he never played any of it live on the dedicated tour.

He explained that too. It was a greatest hits tour (and lets face it they can fill a whole setlist with hits and mainstream favorites)

We'll see if they play any FOAMF songs on their tour for the new album

That’s true but that doesn’t mean, thank good, that it doesn’t bother him!  Not usually one to quite the bible but “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing” is again, very relevant in our times.

My point is him being there doesn't help those who are suffering. He can do things to help these groups while being outside of the states like using his platform to talk about these issues, giving money to groups or charities to help these people etc

And as long as he holds on to his citizenship he can still vote

Yeah, you are right, he can help people wherever he is, I thought you meant he was removed from it, not affected personally so could ignore it.

Don't worry ya'll, he can still repost a strongly worded message on instagram after the next tragedy from wherever he lives.

No one is saying it's his job to fix anything. He can't. I can't. Not many people have that power. It's the principle. Saying "America, I'm breaking up with you lol" just doesn't feel good. He has a platform to discuss these issues anywhere he wants to in the world, but I still feel like it's the most powerful on his home turf. The people who need that inspiration to try to effect change are here. Obviously, he's not obligated to do anything at all. He's the kind of person who cares and tries to do what he can, though, and that's one of the great things about him. I don't even know what I'm saying anymore. I feel like I'm just rambling and having trouble getting my thoughts across clearly. I don't know. Something about what he said just felt dismissive and flippant.

I wish I could vote for and support terrible politicians and then run away when the politicians I voted for and support start running the country into the ground…
