legendary
It was insanely good at first listen and got many good reviews of the fandom, especially in GDC. Don't get me wrong, but when I first listened 'Bang Bang', I thought we're getting an epic album again, but after all RevRad was just a fair album.
That Dude
It's very interesting going through the lead singles and realizing that those are indeed the biggest singles for the most part. And in terms of how the fanbase feels about them, very beloved tracks as well. Know Your Enemy and Father of All... are the most criticized. BANG BANG is probably the most respected out of their post-Breakdown singles, but I'd say Longview and American Idiot are held in much higher regard. My own best and worst of the leads? I'd say Hitchin a Ride is the best and Stray Heart is the worst. These are the lead single of Green Day: Longview Geek Stink Breath Hitchin a Ride Minority American Idiot Know Your Enemy Oh Love Stray Heart X-Kid BANG BANG Father of All...
Slave To The Network
American Idiot would be my first guess for that. Did Bang Bang really outpace it?
Insomniac90
Personally I love Bang Bang the most of them. They kinda surprised us with such an aggressive fast song (yeah, Billie posted something like ‚kill pop in pop-punk’) and I love to think back to the time and the RevRad Era in general. But would say it‘s hard to pick cause we all have a different opinion and and meaning to the songs. They don‘t play „Bang Bang“ anymore so I dont know how important the song is for them. But I think the most important 1st single could be „American Idiot“ .
Flashback
Well I like Father of All, it‘s really energetic
Popular Post pacejunkie punk
I really thought Bang Bang was going to be a setlist mainstay when it was reworked as a guitar free St Jimmy like performance during the 2019 promotion cycle with Kevin filling in. It was such a highlight of those shows I was surprised to see it missing from Hella Mega. Hopefully it just missed the greatest hits cut and will return to the regular set on the next tour. It was one of my favorites of 2019 and one of the best things to come out of RevRad.
That Dude
Another factoid: Geek Stink Breathe is the only lead single not featured on God's Favorite Band. (We'll say Oh Love covers the entirety of the trilogy since poor ole Stray Heart and X-Kid fell through the cracks :() I would have much preferred Geek over Brain Stew. Stew is kind of annoying, but I guess it was the bigger hit within Insomniac.

There was a "drastic" change of Warning, and the oldies, to American Idiot. No I‘m just saying it was their most important 1st single. The song and the whole album changed everything for the band and younger fans and heavy rotation on radio/MTV etc. (Yes, I know AI wasn‘t played at the beginning at US radio stations, but here in EU/UK it does). They were gone for most people back then. But for sure we as big fans like Bang Bang more then AI, maybe because it‘s not overplayed as AI. I also prefer Bang Bang and hope they change the setlist next week. It’s difficult to say which single is their best with many different opinions and memories, especially for us as fans of the band 🤷♂️

michael1989
Yes. I would say even more than AI. Although the reception for that would have been mostly positive, I imagine some old school GD fans may not have liked the new direction. I don't recall any negativity towards BB and near universal praise.
Popular Post Montclare
Bang Bang brought me back to Green Day. I listened to it off of someone's recommendation, and well, I'm still here 6 years later. And I have nothing but praise for RevRad (both the album and the era). I'm also surprised the song was dropped from the playlist. Be nice if they brought it back and finally dropped KYE. As for the general public reception, I think the feeling was "GD is back" after everything that was the trilogy (not knocking the trilogy at all). I do feel AI was the more important single, since it helped launch them into the stratosphere (even if some fans weren't happy about it), whereas Bang Bang was more comfort food.
GDFan2019
I'm surprised Bang Bang never gets radio play nowadays. Still Breathing too!!! The most recent songs I've heard on my local Alternative station, ALT 92.3 New York are 21 Guns and Know Your Enemy. They only played Father of All once or twice when it first came out. I thought for sure they would add Pollyanna to their playlist but they never did. What's the most recent Green Day song that any of you guys have heard on your local stations lately? Montclare
I rarely listen to the radio, but do remember them playing Oh Yeah when it came out. Can't remember if I ever heard Pollyanna. My station plays a lot of GD, but generally AI and older. Looking at the past 24 hours, they've played WICA, Good Riddance, BOBD, and She.

AlissaGoesRAWR
I loved it when it was released and still love it today! I'm kind of disappointed it's an outlier in their post-21CB catalog. So much energy. I saw the first live performance of it. Just sayin'. 😎
