Popular Post pacejunkie punk
Show seemed slightly off the rails but it was what you would expect from a hometown show. Some technical issues and just plain weird shit, wtf was up with those band introductions Billie 😂 and Tre randomly coming down during JOS to give Billie a kiss and his singjng response “I thought that was my mother”, and that was the longest note during Knowledge I think I’ve ever heard him do. Crazy ass show 2

Popular Post fyc
Well, there weren't any surprises. My playlist on the run to the venue were my favorites from the Uno/Dos/Tre trilogy, as I was wishfully hoping for just one such selection. However, longtime local GD fans know they seem to inexplicably play it even safer during large hometown shows. There wasn't even a perfunctory, "What do you guys want to hear?" Still, I used to think any year I saw GD was a good year, and I think that's still true. Billie's voice is still incredible. Consider the following notes I took your annotated listening/watching guide for the archived livestream. There were a few lyric ad libs. 8:10pm Bohemian Rhapsody starts 8:19pm on stage 01. American Idiot: Billie comes out in a leather vest with "1972" on the back and a white flower pinned on his front right. 02. Holiday: "The representative of SCOTUS now has the floor!" 03. Know Your Enemy: with the usual audience member vocal near the end 04. Boulevard of Broken Dreams: After asking for everyone to turn on their phone flashlight, "It's about the only thing these phones are good for." 05. Longview: "My Tinder says to get a job." 😀 06. Welcome to Paradise 07. Hitchin' a Ride (preceded by Iron Man by Black Sabbath tease): After the usual dueling crowd cheer bit, "You're all a bunch of suckers, not the ones from Oakland." 08. Rock and Roll All Nite (KISS cover) 09. Brain Stew 10. St. Jimmy: BJA on vocal only, not on guitar, takes flower previously pinned on his vest and tosses it into the crowd. 11. When I Come Around: BJA shouting out surrounding areas at the end, "San Francisco... East Bay... Sacramento... ahhh, fucking, Santa Cruz, I guess, I don't know" 12. Waiting: I know it isn't numerically true, but it felt like the "rarest" song we got. 13. 21 Guns 14. Minority: Band introductions had some jokes for names like Ricky Schroder, Henry Winkler, and (for Mike Dirnt) David Duchovny. 15. Knowledge (Operation Ivy cover) (preceded by Tre drum solo): The "We" in "We get taught to decide" was a note BJA impressively held for 23 seconds. A 10-year-old kid named Montgomery did a great job on guest guitar. He was so short that BJA spent a bit of time trying to shorten the guitar strap for him. 16. Basket Case: This song had a fumbled start as BJA broke a string on his guitar after the first verse but played out the rest of the song. I wonder if the broken string led them to scratch "She". 17. King for a Day (preceded by "Lights" by Journey snippet, followed by a tease of "Careless Whisper" by George Michael): BJA briefly wears a plastic crown taken from the audience or planned as a stage prop. In the end, "Just wait 'til all them kids get a load of me". 18. Shout (The Isley Brothers cover) 19. Wake Me Up When September Ends 20. Jesus of Suburbia: In Part III: I Don't Care, the more recent "from Ukraine to the Middle East". I presume it was a joke, but Billie introduced "Tre Cool on the bass" leading into Part V: Tales of Another Broken Home. During the closing "I don't feel any shame" verse, Tre came up to give Billie a kiss. Billie then joked, "Tales from another broken... I thought that was my mother... " (in the same melody). 😂 21. Good Riddance (Time of Your Life): BJA began with a story of how in 1991 they tried to play in Dolores Park (across town in SF) on a day with a bunch of punk bands, but the cops shut it down before they played last. "They didn't shut this one down though," he smirks as he starts GR. The final "I hope you had the time of your life" ends in a low growl I haven't heard BJA do before. 9:57pm off stage Thanks for reading, Frank 11 1

Little Boy Named Booze
I'm not even gonna watch the show. Boring setlist.
Popular Post That Dude
We've talked a lot about the band's 'by-the-numbers' set. But the real question is whether the band enjoys playing the same songs over and over again. I certainly hope they enjoy it, and aren't being pressure by record exec's or fan reaction to play what I call the "ONE - TWENTY ONE HITS" set list we keep getting every single night. I know there has to be at least SOME of that involved. But it's kind of sad that no matter how rich and famous you are, you're never really free to do whatever you want. I know that Green Day were to say, perform DOS in it's entirety everynight, followed by 10 Coldplay covers - the crowds would thin and their ability to tour would vanish. It just sucks. It sucks that a ragtag trio of punks with 60 Million or whatever in the bank can't play what the heck ever comes to mind. What's really concerning is that potentially the guys aren't happy at all. That they can't stop for whatever reason. The music industry won't let them. The fans, or their feelings of owing the fans...... I hope that Billie, Mike and Tre have cemented a better deal with their label, but these set lists...... It's just bad. Add Too Dumb to Die to ther permeanant setlist and I'll forget I ever thought about this. Thanks Billie 6
Popular Post pacejunkie punk
If it helps, the show they put on still helps them to gain new fans and impress the doubters even now. Here’s a subreddit for Outside Lands where casual fans who were not sure they liked Green Day walked away impressed and in love after a greatest hits show. These shows are for those people 5
