Recommend reading all four articles at the link. This is basically the only interview we’ve gotten about the Hella Mega Tour and all four drummers talk about it. It’s all worth reading

There’s also a great article about a guy who has a burned Slingerland set of Tre’s and he tells great stories about his GD encounters

I haven't had the chance to read it (adulting sucks), but the caption on page 4 is a... interesting choice of words.

I'm not sure that Jake and some of the crew would agree with the "no turmoil" statement. 🤷‍♀️

I think you need to bear in mind they were really talking in the context of Covid and also, Jake’s accident is for him to speak about if he wishes.  It’s not for one band member to go sharing about another person’s accident, especially a private individual, and I guess there could be legal implications too if Jake has a claim against the forklift company or anything.

Awesome articles!

interesting in the Hella Mega article it mentions “no COVID issues” amongst the crew. Well, one or the members of Fall Out Boy did get COVID soooooo

Yes, noticed that too, forgot to mention it in last post.  Seems strange, can’t remember now how many shows FOB lost, they must consider it minor.

I thought it said "Tre Cool replaced by modern drummer" for a second.

I wasn't even that upset to be honest.

I can see them not mentioning Jake's accident, but strictly in the context of COVID it was a serious case of revisionist history to say the tour went perfectly and without a hitch, considering FOB missed a week of shows due to positive tests.  That's a flat out lie, I wonder if it was the publicist that wants to whitewash the tour and hope everyone forgets and told the interviewer  to leave it out or if they really didn't know. Hard to believe, since it was very well known at the time that they missed several shows.

Of course it is for Jake to speak on as that is who had his life instantly changed. But the editorial claim that there wasn't turmoil, is false and should have been left off.

The article title looks like someone just slapped Word Art from Window's XP on it and called it a day.  Really cool read, though!

I kind of agree but I think they (management) must have been prepared in case the whole tour became a disaster with bands ill, possibly for a long time, crowds getting ill, health officials denouncing them as super spreader events etc etc, it was at high risk of becoming a PR disaster so in that perspective I’ll bet, Jake aside, they are pretty pleased with the outcome overall.  I don’t mean to sound dismissive of Jake or what he’s going through but if you are in the habit of running big events with lots of people and equipment then I’m sorry to say, bad stuff happens at times. It would seem that for Aimee, Rivers, Patrick or Billie, Covid could really be a very serious issue for lung function, maybe not career ending but certainly very difficult to recover from.

I must admit that I too immediately thought of Jake when there was the discussion about how everything went smoothly and there were no mishaps. It makes sense not to mention it, though, as has been said. That was a completely freak accident and is likely all the fault of the forklift company and people involved with the machinery. If there are any legal suits going on, which I'm sure there are, that's private business. Jake also has a right to privacy about his condition and his injuries don't need to be brought into the public eye via interview with someone who wasn't even involved in the accident.
