Neighborhoods was released less than a year before any of the trilogy, was less than blink’s best work, and sold more than any individual album of the trilogy. California, an album notorious for missing a key member, was released the same year as rev rad and outsold it. Nine was released a few months before foam and outsold it as well. There’s A LOT of positivity going around in the blink camp right now, and a lot of positive reception for what blinks released from their new album thus far from both casuals and hardcore. I haven’t seen that level of excitement for what Green Day’s done since 21cb in 2009. Their current tour is the highest grossing tour of their career, and there seems to be from what I’ve seen a much more nostalgic love for blink in recent years than Green Day. I went to see them in 2016 and people went nuts. I saw Green Day at the same venue in 2017 and the crowd and enthusiasm just didn’t feel the same. And mine you 2016 was Tom Delonge-less. if anything I think they may be intimated by blinks current positive momentum and probably wants to keep a certain distance from what they’re doing. I know we’d never imagine that’d be the case again after American Idiot; but times have changed and the general public seems more into blink both in a nostalgic and creative sense than they’ve been into what Green Day has done since at least 2009. If we’re having this discussion in good faith, I think we have to acknowledge that. Maybe gd will shock us again like they did in 04, but as of now I doubt it. Blink, as of now, has set the competition bar pretty high and I think it’s kinda a nuisance for gd right now. You're right...Blink fans have always been pretty fucking dumb when it comes to what good music is. 2

Yeah, in terms of first week sales blink sold 151k compared to 139k but we don't really know how much of each album has been sold to date. Uno was also released almost exactly a year after Neighborhoods so they're not really even that comparable anyway. California and Nine are much more comparable to RevRad and FOAMF respectively blink for sure has had the better performing albums in recent years but I honestly find it hard to believe that the enthusiasm for a blink live show in 2016 was more than a GD show in 2017. Not only because Tom wasn't in the band at that point but also because blink has always been kinda shitty live 2 minutes ago, ekim said: Revolution radio debuted at number 1 on the billboard charts and spawn actual hit singles like bang bang and still breathing So did California and it had much more album sales in its first week. Btd was certified gold and actually made an appearance on the billboard hot 100. Green Day hasn’t released a single that’s appeared on the hot 100 and had an riaa certification since 21 guns in 2009. California itself was certified gold and nominated for a Grammy. Gf hasn’t had either since 2009. And again we’re talking about the mediocre Skiba years compared to gd releasing an album featuring the core of the band the general public has known as gd since they hit the mainstream. you can argue about quality all you want, as California and nine were hardly a replay worthy work for me, but gd hasn’t had the commercial endurance that blink has had since 2009, and as of now they’re seems to be much more anticipation and enthusiasm for blink than there is for gd. Yeah gd had more of an overall impact on the genre with two landmark albums, but currently, commercially, they haven’t kept up with blink since American Idiot. It just is what it is now. All subjective my friend. I’m just talking about the poster that said CURRENTLY if gd were to release their new album the same time as blinks that it’d wipe the floor with blinks album. I don’t think that’d be the case with how well blinks doing right now, and it hasn’t been the case for a decade and a half. 8 minutes ago, DookieLukie said: Define “hit.” Both didn’t even get on the Hot 100. Last reported sales we have for both had neighborhoods at 353,000 and I think uno at 200,000 something. I just know it was less. Neither were stellar commercially for either band, but gd, again has been trailing from blink since post 21cb.

I do think real blink (Tom, mark, and Travis) is more my thing than gd, and I think their self titled album was one of the most innovative pop punk albums of all time and deserved the attention AI got the following year, but again that’s all subjective. I’m just responding to one poster that said gd would commercially take the spotlight from blink. That hasn’t been the case in a significant amount of time and is a taller order with how much positive reception blink has for what they’ve released from their new album so far than that poster made it out to be. I’m simply saying it wouldn’t be an easy feat. That’s all.

It depends on what somebody means by "wipe the floor with." If you're talking about strictly sales/fandom, you may have a point. If you are talking about actual quality of music, I'd put GD's largest pile of shit against Blink's best work ANY day of the fucking week. 2

It wasn’t like they copied them note for note, it was hoppus trying to play jar, fucking up, and accidentally created the bass line for what’s my again while doing so. Which while a happy accident because of jar, was still a completely different bass line. what’s the other song?
