Why would they have played the entire album for people when it's not coming out until 2024? California, an album notorious for missing a key member, was released the same year as rev rad and outsold it. Nine was released a few months before foam and outsold it as well. Their current tour is the highest grossing tour of their career, and there seems to be from what I’ve seen a much more nostalgic love for blink in recent years than Green Day. And mine you 2016 was Tom Delonge-less. if anything I think they may be intimated by blinks current positive momentum and probably wants to keep a certain distance from what they’re doing. I know we’d never imagine that’d be the case again after American Idiot; but times have changed and the general public seems more into blink both in a nostalgic and creative sense than they’ve been into what Green Day has done since at least 2009. If we’re having this discussion in good faith, I think we have to acknowledge that. Maybe gd will shock us again like they did in 04, but as of now I doubt it.
