Since we know tease #6 is 1981 and is on the new album, and all the other relevant teased music clips will be there as well. This album is gonna be awesome. The American Dream is like a major theme going on throughout that album Not just the references to the American dream in the title track but the idea that the "Heroes & Cons" or "the enemy" just lie to us that we can reach the top if we just work hard. If this song/album entitled Sweet (American) Dreams or The American Dream is Killing Me or whatever it's going to be called is going to be another one telling us "Hey these assholes in power are lying to you", it's hard for me not to get excited about that even if it's not a wholly original concept for them considering what most of the politics of their recent albums have been i.e. "Generic revolution anthem / We live in troubled times" content with no real underlying point or commentary being made. I don't even dislike those songs, I'm just hoping for something more here I already mentioned this lyric earlier "The brutality of reality is the freedom that keeps me from dreaming" but this alongside the lines from the intro/outro of Before the Lobotomy (see below) really just all I can think of when I hear "The American Dream is killing me" and a Green Day album in 2023 having this kind of dark content is something I'm totally cool with Dreamin', I was only dreamin' Of another place and time, where my family's from Singin', I can hear them singin' When the rain had washed away all these scattered dreams Dyin', everyone's reminded Hearts are washed in misery, drenched in gasoline Laughter, there is no more laughter Songs of yesterday now live in the underground... 5 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
