Ngl I don't wanna come into this thread to see an entire page of what people are listening to

I agree! I'll reword the question here.  What is one band that has supported you during the recording of Green Day 14?

This would be a good time for Green Day to release more archival stuff from the vault while we wait for something new. Wish they’d do that more often. What ever happened to that Oakland Coffeehouse thing where you signed up and saw rare videos and BTS stuff? Another idea that lasted just as long as it took to harvest our data 😠

Yup and they have mentioned the vault many times. Mike has mentioned eventually sharing it. We will hear C&V and those sessions one day for sure. I’ve never ever had a doubt in my mind about that.

It’s just a matter of when. Honestly there was so much momentum for C&V around the time of Awesome As Fuck. 2011 would have been a perfect time to do it.

Instead they rushed into the trilogy and Billie lost his head. C&V could have bought Billie some much needed time.

I can see C&V being released in an American Idiot anniversary edition next year!!!

Just imagine

Disc 1: American Idiot

Disc 2: American Idiot Outtakes

Disc 3: C&V

Disc 4: Bullet in a Bible CD

Disc 5: Bullet in a Bible Blu Ray

That seems very realistic for a deluxe/anniversary edition.  A smattering of really juicy, amazing unheard music surrounded by a bunch of reruns.   Haha

Would be cool if some tracks were included that claimed to be from the cancelled American Idiot Part 2 and Part 3, and we'd speculate when they were recorded.

Yeah and if you were around here online during that time there was almost like a feeling that they were just gonna say “fuck it lets trickle out the songs and eventually release them”.

I’d honestly take it now over a new album. We got God’s Favorite Band now we need a modern day Shenanigans.

I don’t think the songs are as bad as some people are thinking they are. It’s just that American Idiot is that much better. I would assume stacked against everything post-21cb that c&v has to be better. Their so-called “decline” at the time was more about reaching audiences not indicative of the quality of their songwriting.

I remember those times well. They were exciting until we were left blue balled, and not for the first time. And totally agree that whatever those songs sounded like back then, they're likely as good as or better than everything after 2009

Same. It reminds me of „more than a feeling“ by Boston

Yep, they do have some similarities.

I wonder if Billie drew inspiration from that song?

So did it come out today or what?

I wonder who's going to win my contest about guessing the release date....

They were going to re-record Cigarettes and Valentines again for 2022 or 2023 but it just wasn't up to their standards, even with substantial rewrites and renames.  And when someone stole the masters, they decided 1972 was dead.    But immediately after scrapping it, they banged out a new album in two weeks that is better.

If you think about how great songs like Maria, Haha You’re Dead, Poprocks and Coke, C&V, Hearts Collide, Lights Out are, then the C&V album would undoubtedly be one of their best pieces of work. I’m not a massive fan of 21cb at all, other than a few tracks. Somewhere Now and XKid are the most inspired songs of more ‘recent’ times. Hell even State Of Shock, the demo, is an incredible song. Way better than most of the new stuff we’ve heard on recent releases.

So tired of waiting…

....tired of waiting for you....

Green Day have 45 mentions of "wait" in their lyrics.

I can't wait for 1972 to be announced so I make tons of Green Day content over on YouTube.  I went viral talking about Hank Williams 3 and his son, and I actually got to know them in reality a little bit because of it....but Green Day are next.     MUHUHAHAHAHA.      One minute (pun intended) you're sitting in South Carolina petting a chihuahua, the next you're being flown out to California for a video shoot for "Born and Raised Saviors" or whatever.

Dreaming is free.

It was explicitly for putting it on AAF. When they played it the first time in Denver Billie Joe said “hey I wanna tell you something, we’re recording a live fucking album right now! So we’re going to play a brand new song. But it ain’t that brand new, this song’s called Cigarettes and Valentines”. Then I lost my goddamn mind and had something close to a heart attack.

He probably said that at the Phoenix and Mountain View shows too but I've forgotten
