Took me a second to get the reference....now I get it, though.  You're confirming 1972 will be Uno Updated! : Updated with worse lyrics.  I mean modern lyrics.  Like Fall Out Boy did for Jilly Boel.

There was no problem with FOAM. Even it was stated in interviews as ''I don’t think anybody’s taking themselves too seriously, and I think people can sense that by the giant rainbow-puking unicorn that is the icon of the entire fucking thing''. Songsforassholes was the secret instagram account of the band at the time as you may remember. The band enjoyed having 'one foot at the party' without taking it too seriously and so did I. Now waiting for the next one...

Dear Sleuthes:  We don't want snippets.  Go big or go home as they say, and we want the mother Mary load.  Every single unreleased song from 87 til July 2023 right now, right here.  For free, with blessing from the band and also, maybe 50 dollars if we listen to it all in one long session.

I am still thinking Uno of All American Nimrods with be out early February and now I believe the single will be out October 17th.     Musically, think Missing You and Scattered reproducing children.

Do you guys think they’ll debut any other new songs in September at Louder than Life and When We Were Young? Do you think the lead single would be out by then?

That was my problem with FOAM. This whole “we’re not taking it seriously” thing is fine in small doses but it gets to a point where it’s like “well if the band doesn’t care, why should I?”. I don’t want to see Green Day become U2 but there’s nothing wrong with taking pride in your work.

That and we waited 4 years for 26 minutes of new music. And the inconsistent production style. And the songs that weren’t really about anything. And that stupid fucking album art.

I'm sure there's a reason behind it and I hope we learn sometime in the future. I already forgot about it and excited for the new one;)

Great example of how energy and variance can improve a song. Green Day is just lazy and has no passion anymore.

Reminder: we don't share leaks in general around here, not just for new songs.

Rob Cavallo is the fixer, I'm guessing. Similarly, Butch Vig likely had a large influence on 21CB. RevRad was pretty good for self-produced but imagine if it had a Cavallo/Vig touch.

Cavallo produced the Trilogy though and that lacked punch and energy.

They should do another album with Butch Vig. As much as I love Covallo for his contribution to American Idiot..  but Butch Vig is the man.

And no 21stcbd is not my fav GD album

How do we define when a song transitions from leak to just an unreleased song?   Is there even a difference?   I wonder if live performances of stuff like Olivia, 1981, etc bother the band at all.  I wonder if leaks of any kind bother them.

If this new album isn’t good, Green Day risk alienating their fan base after the torture they’ve put us through for the last 2 years.

Technically the producer credit was “Rob Cavallo and Green Day”. Though I watched Cuatro and came away with the impression that it he was pretty hands-off.

Wait... is there are songs that were intended for FOAM that have leaked? 🤔

It's an exact cover. All this does is prove what a great song it is. Green Day's version has plenty of energy, it just had too much falsetto.

That’s exactly my point. A good song was ruined by a poor performance and lack of emotion.

where does it lack punch? maybe it is lacking "dirt" but the clean crunch tone of the guitars is punchy as fuck

You: GD's version of the song is lazy and has no passion
pacejunkie: It's actually a great song with energy. It just has too much falsetto
You: Yeah that's my point

But, that wasn't your point. The performance of the song was fine. It wasn't lazy and it's not lacking in emotion or passion. The falsetto and production are really the only issues with that song. The falsetto is enough to ruin the song for me but otherwise it's honestly a pretty great Green Day song.

It was literally just a poor choice for the song imo, not laziness

And perhaps maybe they should've given the song a different title, like Paranoia? "I got paranoia, baby!!"
