That Dude
Still calculating the distant future of Green Day. I think that Album #2004 is a fitting end to the band's legacy and if all goes well, will come out in the year 8000. I will keep crunching the numbers, but I've got to be realistic. I don't think the band will record anything after the year 7999 AD.
That Dude
There is finally a reference to Green Day's 1972 on Wikipedia! I was researching my favorite producers for a video and there it is in Rob Cavallo's production discography. Release year and title is there. Yes, I know Wikipedia is loosy goosy piece of poop, but it's something. SOMETHING, darn it! Am I an insider now? Am I Billie Joe's relative now? As the great Van Gough would shout, "WHAT AM I?????" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Cavallo_production_discography
localinsomniac
Sum 41 are breaking up, but not before they finish this tour, put out one more record and then tour on that for another year. Why bother saying anything now?

Why bother saying anything now? Promotion for the next tour. Maybe they thought the current tour didn’t sell that well but announce a breakup and a farewell tour? It will sell much better. And they could always “reunite” at any time
That Dude
What does a band breakup look like behind the scenes? Do they leave their label, dismiss managers, etc? Or do they just go about their lives with their record company kind of saving a spot for them later down the road? It's different for each band, I'm sure. But I'm also curious about the deal part. What if they aren't through with their contract? These are the things we could be discussing ad nauseum when Green. Day hit the eject button on this puppy. DookieLukie
Sun 41 are really disbanding. Breakup makes it sound abrupt and bitter. Sounds like they’re basically retiring.

I wish someone would put the album into the TBA albums section but no one has.

I have no evidence of this but I presume they give titles/names to the various projects they work on as they’re working on them, prior to a proper album name being decided on.

DanagedGoods
Can you imagine if it’s taking so long because they’re doing something like The Magnetic Field’s “50 Song Memoir”, where there’s a song for every year covering one persons life? That Dude would have a field day with 52 (assuming the album comes out in 2024) titles to come up with, covering an entire life. It really would be Green Day’s magnum opus (of the inglorious kind 😉)

But I like your idea a lot! Quantity over quality is what I always say.

Christian's Inferno!
Considering the album is going to come out in 2024, we really don't know what title they'll end up using Maybe it was 1972 and they've changed it already. Maybe it's still currently 1972 but they plan on changing it before release. Maybe it will be released as 1972 If it doesn't end up being called 1972, I am curious what they'll end up going with. I really liked how GD titled their albums up to 21st Century Breakdown. Since then, the album titles imo have ranged from ok (Uno Dos Tré, RevRad) to bad (FOAMF) 3

greenday.stuff
I made this back in January cause I missed making Green Day memes and I figured that you guys deserved to see the glory that I have created. This is what instagram took from you when they disabled my account. Everyone is so boring now. If enough people want it I will turn Tre into Saul Goodman. Or even Mike as Mike... It really would be Green Day’s magnum opus (of the inglorious kind 😉) That would be cool, but massive song dumps don't work well for Green Day. Which is weird nowadays because albums have gotten longer so streams can be racked up. If we get a sprawling, longer album, a Nimrod or Breakdown would be a better indicator, with 18 songs. It will be called Reprise Omega. 1. Large Clumps 2.Same Kind of Machine 3. A Minute in Up Close 4. I Die 5. Birthcanel 6. Guardians of Mario 7. Popular Post Q-Man
This will definitely make for some very interesting interviews. I hope we get a decent amount of them this album cycle. Even for FOAM we really didn't get much. It's been pretty much quiet on the interview front for the entirety of the 2020s so far.

Popular Post pouty bitch
I like the one-word album titles best. Kerplunk. Dookie. Insomniac. Nimrod. Warning. Shenanigans. They just work. They fit. Simple but the words are uncommon enough that it's not basic or dull. American Idiot is okay, it sounds better as just Idiot tho honestly. Same with Breakdown. Revrad and Foamf are cringe titles anyway but even shortened they aren't good. Uno Dos and Tre are plain/boring and they only work because of the three band members and Tre being on Tre. 1972, while simple, nothing to cringe about, and a fit if it's gonna be like a nostalgia album or whatever - it just doesn't sound as good as an actual word. I'd love to get another album named after a random dumb word that usually has nothing to do with any song titles or anything. 5
