In response to the criticism levied at Green Day's recent marketing choices, I think there's real reason to be optimistic about it when their next album comes - whenever that may be. Did you guys see all the promotion for Fall Out Boy's newest album? I don't follow FOB on any social media platforms, yet I saw promotion for their album all over the place - hiding little packages for fans at landmarks in major cities, billboards in major cities, three short-notice intimate club shows, and pre-release listening parties at affiliated record stores with prizes, exclusive colored records, and more. Again, these are just things that I happened to see while browsing social media; I'm sure fans of FOB who actually follow the band can speak more on the promotion of the record. As Green Day and FOB are both under the same management, Crush, I would bet that the marketing for the next Green Day record will follow a similar strategy.

The fact this is a personal issue, it's not something you would want to make generally known. And that's why there's been no written official notification. Only Billie Joe's statement that we will see the band next year, at end of Inning's Festival.

 

I bet every song on the new album has that Father of All falsetto and Billie's got a lot of work to do, because they're ONLY playing new songs at future shows and he doesn't want to shred his neck into dust.

I just did some Dude Math, while also assuming Green Day will get back to a consistent 3 year gap between each album.

So yes.  In 2061, wrinkly Billie will be telling us what to expect from Album 27 which is 'probably coming out sometime in 2062'.  I won't throw out any dumb titles of song names like "fingerpony" as much as I want to.   But here's Green Day's release schedule.    Things change and stuff happens, (nobody is a liar)  but this could be right: 

2024 – album 14

2027 – album 15

2030 – album 16

2033 – album 17

2037 – album 18

2040 – album 19

2043 – album 20

2047 – album 21

2050 – album 22

2053 – album 24

2056 – album 25

2059 – album 26

2062 – album 27

2065 - album 28

2074 - album 31.   Okay, I know Green Day don't like taking time off.   And none of them are in caskets yet.   But seriously, Billie.  You're youngest kid is 75.  Chill a little bit, dude.    Take some time off.

2080 - Album 33.    It sounds kind of like Uno, but really, really, really, really terrible.    Lady Cobra returns to cause trouble in the morbidly elder home.

2084 - Album 34.   A slightly longer wait between album.   Ya know, because the band comprises of 112 years old who still look and feel like their 75 again. 

2088 - Album 35.....I've been around since 19-freaking-88-freaking 8.   And uh....

I've got more, but I need to stop.   I'll be 103 in 2088 and honestly GDC will probably be down for a few weeks around that time so I'm going to shut up now.  For now.

I don't know, it seems weird that they would float the idea of the album getting released so much earlier, but I presume when they set out they had a lot smaller ambitions and as time went on they decided that actually, there was a lot more they could do with the next release, including deliberate marketing and release at the right time. If plans indeed changed and the album gets released next year it would make sense that the teasers died down. Because what the band, management and marketing would have wanted, was not to create hype around an album that is going to be released a year from now or so, but rather let the hype fizzle out and create fresh hype once it's appropriate. It's why I think the weirdest thing of all would be to drop the singles and album now or in the near future, given how few teasers we've had recently. 

It's all very mystical, but regardless of how frustrated people are right now (and I get it), I feel like we'll understand a lot better once the album drops. I don't know if it will be any good, but based on what we have heard so far and the staffing (Cavallo and CLM), I think we're in for something big, either way. 

Adding onto this, American Idiot isn't the only milestone here. Dookie is turning 30 in February. 2024 is a huge year for them, and it honestly makes sense that they would want to utilize it. Plus I have a very strong feeling that things have changed since they dropped those teasers. They've been working on this album for far too long for there not to have been significant changes going on behind the scene. American Idiot took them 9 months in the studio. Obviously they went on tour and have been doing other things during the most recent sessions, but there has to be much more going on here than what we originally thought.

To be frank, the wait has made me more excited for the album. I didn't care all that much when the teasers first dropped. They didn't have my attention until Rob Cavallo joined the party. It is evident that they're putting a lot of care into this album. If it's taking them this long, it has to be really fucking good. If they're gonna do it, they're gonna do it right this time. Go big or go home. That's at least how I see it.

Just wait until I figure out what Green Day album will come out in the year 1,000,000,000!  

Tonight, I had to reach 3000.  Ya know, because of Omega 3000 and all.  I thought maybe I'd crack the code of 1972.  

But really all I know now is that Green Day Album 339 will come out that year.    Math would be easier and life would be better if Green Day were to put out an album every 2 years on the dot.  I might have to do that.   3 is a stupid big number to try and mess with.

Genuine question. Are you guys okay in here? I mean I probably know the answer to that but like this thread is literally just a giant group chat. Only like 15% of the conversation here is actually real discussion/news about the album. Idk how you all do this shit every day when there's literally zero updates. Don't get me wrong, I know people come here to talk to other fans and pass the time (and that one dude who just shitposts but honestly respect because he's providing the only entertainment in this ongoing dumpster fire), but I feel like you're only making it worse for yourselves. This community could change topics.  Instead of Green Day, we would only discuss a band that has a brand new album out and are promoting it.   That way, we are never in this painful waiting game, speculating insanity for years at a time.

I remember those early reviews of RevRad saying it sounded like old school Green Day, which well… was a bit misleading to say the least. That said, Bang Band was an amazing song / first single, so I can understand the hype and going by three very important metrics besides hearing the actual music, those being:

- the extensive time the band has spent working on this album

- the fantastic staffing (Cavallo/CLA)

- the band’s own tremendous enthusiasm around it

…I think we’re in for something big. Certainly bigger than FOAM, possibly the biggest thing Green Day have done since AI/21CB (fingers crossed).

When has the band talked negatively of new work? 99 Revolutions was the best Green Day song according to Billie. It’s nice to hear they find this upcoming release special, but it’s no guarantee it is.
