Yes!  I was thinking the same thing last night.  Specifically thinking during RevRad of the livestreams and that little acoustic concert where he asked what songs did people want to hear.

I think they just added on to the original project. If they started over, I’m sure they would’ve deleted the original teasers by now

Jesus christ no way this is true I woke up and first thing I saw was these news. Are you aware that early next year easily could mean april? I mean, one fucking year? Or like I said before, in green day terms 2024 could mean 2025 as well! This is frustrating 😤

Maybe they are planning a farewell tour where they play 1,972 songs.  And that takes a TON of rehearsing.  I mean, the guys haven't played anything other than Basketcase since I heart, because when Billie demanded to play a new song, they took his one minute away.  We can wait another decade, but I don't think that drunk psycho is coming back.  Lol

Thanks! It would be great if the author could clarify the "next year" part and whether that is relative to 2022 or now.

Well, a band isn't going to put out footage of dissapointed members recording bad sounding music.  Could you imagine?  Mike Dirnt saying "Green Day have 10,000 cylinders but this time, we are only giving about 40 percent.  I just do a basic bassline and Billie can write whatever party jams he wants to over top.  Tre doesn't care either.  Nobody on Earth wants anything but Dookie and Idiot, so who gives a crap?  Some wackadoodle on GDC?  I hate those guys.  They're so terrible."

Okay, maybe I imagined too much.

I get what you are saying, but did the band themselves want those clips put out or was it a label thing?  It's possible the label did it and the band was thinking "holy crap, we're just jamming in the studio, we got nothing!" 

All I know is about to get deep into some Smash Mouth.  Maybe they can fill the void until Green Day get it together, haha.

I’m almost certain Rob wasn’t the original producer and they restarted the recording process after they decided he would do it better and that’s why the delays happened.

I remember when in 2016 Jason Freese blurted on a random radio that Green Day had finished the album and were about to leave for the tour. The interview was taken down everywhere and someone here was also contacted to try to calm things down.

If true, this is beyond stupid. I've said repeatedly that I'm fine with them taking their time on this next album and I stand by that. What I don't like is them putting out several teasers literally over a year before the album is going to be released and all these sources (whether true or not) saying that the band is done the album, that they're getting ready for touring and releasing singles just for an article to come out saying yeah it's gonna be another year

For RevRad, I'm pretty sure all we got was confirmation that Billie had written a few songs around the time of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015, then a photo of Billie in studio in the beginning of 2016 and then the band releasing singles and stuff starting in August. For FOAMF we got basically nothing until the album was announced and FOA was released as the lead single, exept for the Panicland shit. And while this album may be a bigger project than both of those, I don't see why we need all this shit if the album isn't even going to release for another year

Where did you heard that? I think the only source we had was the kerrang interview where he mentioned "probably 2023".
