New Staind song is solid. Hard to put aside Aaron Lewis’ extremist politics but art from artist I suppose.

I’m not a fan of Foo Fighters but they have a much more adept social media team than Green Day has. One week out from initial teasing they released a single and album announcement. Meanwhile, Green Day started teasing this project 16 months ago so now expectations are much higher than they probably should be. And we still have no clue when it’s coming. Sigh.

Yes the hype being much much higher than it should be is a good talking point

Clearly the original 1972 that was recorded in London was a different project than what we’re getting now. The whole 1972 thing stopped around last August even though they continued working in the studio. I hope journalists are clued in enough when they interview them to ask what the story was and why this project seemed to evolve and take so long.

I just hope they’re not cutting anything and just adding on to what they recorded in London. All those teasers sounded so good!!!

What if none of that is on the record?

It’s entirely possible. It could have been scrapped like C&V.  But something tells me at least some of it if not all of it survived since they were using the 1972 tag through the time Rob came on board and they went back to the old AI studio.

Makes sense. Because I would think since Mike didn’t make the first London trip and recorded remotely, they probably felt it wasn’t maximum Green Day firing on all cylinders, not being all in the same room together. And yes, they came to LA and I remember your daughter saw them at Henson. And then at one point they were able to go back to London with Mike. And also, if anything we heard in the teasers was scrapped, those teasers probably would’ve been taken down

Ahhhhhh now I’m back to I can’t wait instead of frustrated they’re taking so long.

The idea of putting the year 1972 on a project made me think it might have been a retrospective record and maybe a little boring since the band has been recording and releasing records for so long they seem like basically detailed a detailed diary of times past in song form.

Now I’m excited they may be out of the 1972 lane and the songwriting would be more about old and new and a wide array of interesting themes and stories. The Trilogy is still my fav record because of the risks and diversity of the songs compared to the entire Green Day album discography.

I’m thinking we should change the name of this thread back to “Album 14 Speculation Thread”

I don’t think them delaying anything, if they did, has anything to do with other artists releasing anything. just off the top of my head I know they released Bang Bang the same week as a new Bon Jovi and Metallica singles and Uno was released the same day as Mumford and Sons album.

Guys, we just gotta remember that Billie was quoted in Kerrang last year that the album will "probably come out in 2023", and now we're only in April 2023!!!

There's still 7 months, 11 days and 1.5 hours left in 2023 on the dot.

The FEQ said this morning they knew about the new Foo Fighters album coming out in June when they booked them for the festival in July.

So what my friend told me about Green Day management is still pretty relevant.

When's the  green day album coming out then

Guys, it doesn't matter.

The new album can't be released before the music video for Forever Now is done and published. And that was teased 6 years ago. It doesn't make any sense to put out a new album first (FOAM doesn't count because it's shit) 😏

And before they can do that, the Trilogy promotion needs to be completed as well.

And after Forever Now, the music video for I Was A Teenage Teenager Teenaging Teenage Teenagers Teenage.  I hope MCR can be in the video with their Black Parade outfits.   Maybe getting lit on fire.
