1972 project speculation thread

I googled "American Idiot Part 2" and found Billie saying he would only make a sequel to Insomniac.

But people change their mind and I think it's time for a followup to Nimrod and Shenanigans blended into one album.

Not for drinking, you sickos.

DUI will be the lead single. A revamped version.

Here it is, the first single.

#AmericanBrat

Verse 1:
In the streets of Frankfurt, 1972
The aroma fills the air
The grills are sizzling, the brats are cooking
And everybody's there

Chorus:
American brat, American brat
A taste of home in every bite
The sausages are hot, the buns are fresh
And everything is just right

Verse 2:
From the stands at the Oktoberfest
To the grill in your backyard
The bratwurst is a symbol of freedom
And it's been that way since '72

Chorus:
American brat, American brat
A taste of home in every bite
The sausages are hot, the buns are fresh
And everything is just right

Bridge:
But now the times are changing
And the world is getting strange
The bratwurst is a reminder
Of a simpler time and place

Chorus:
American brat, American brat
A taste of home in every bite
The sausages are hot, the buns are fresh
And everything is just right

Outro:
So raise your bier in the air
And take a bite of that brat
Here's to the year of '72
And the taste of freedom that it brought.

Finally, some legitimate news on 1972 Tons!

This one kind of sounds like Back in the USA to me, what do you think?

I'm glad Jillie Bow rewrote the lyrics, because the early leaks were something like this:

Beat on the Bratwurst

beat on the bratwurst hard

beat on the bradwurst oh my gosh

brat

brat

brat

brat

brat

brats are uh...............

brat

brat

brat

brat

brat

Frankie (unintelligible) freedom bought.

brat

brat

brat

brat

brat

brat

brat

and it had more of a HERE COMES THE SHOCK vibe.

If you google images of "green day 1972", I'm the first thing that comes up.

My life has meaning.

Unless this album sucks, but what are the chances of that?

1 to 99 or 99 to 1?

One on the right looks like Matt Bellamy in the middle and Tom from Blink 182 to the right.

My AI just made the best GD lyrics ever. In this universe Billie Joe fully embraced socialism and is threatening to move to Cuba instead of England.

Verse 1

Back in 1972, when the world was still young,
The future seemed so far, yet so close to come.
But when I close my eyes, I see the same old scene,
Where the rich get richer and the poor get mean.

Chorus
You better wake up and smell the revolution,
Cos capitalism's gonna bring us to our knees.
The sleepless nights, they just keep coming,
So rise up and fight against the powers that be.

Verse 2
The clock keeps ticking, every second I'm awake,
The system's grinding me down and I can't take the pain.
I'm stuck in this nightmare, I'm trying to break free,
But all I hear is the sound of the bourgeoisie.

Chorus
You better wake up and smell the revolution,
Cos capitalism's gonna bring us to our knees.
The sleepless nights, they just keep coming,
So rise up and fight against the powers that be.

Bridge
I'm gonna break through these walls
Gonna shout and scream and brawl
Gonna fight for what is mine
Gonna bleed until the end of time

Outro
Revolution, revolution, revolution! Revolution, revolution, revolution!

We should stay on topic of exclusively 1972 speculation.   That's very important.   Here's a song I wrote when I became AI for a moment as I listen to Last Night on Earth.

Coming Through Like Glue on Revolution

I think I’m coming apart altogether, but hey who’s really looking

Past the breaking point, I’m broken inside again

Take it or leave it pain and I’m throbbing baby bobbing on gimme gimme something else

Drugs (chorus)

Oh, Gimme Gimme Candy Apple

Dogs

Singing like a howling moon

Miles til I find your scull, it’s all I want  I crave something else tonight

Shake boogie break

Send my love to you

Texting the devil who’s riding by

I say hey Mike, it’s true

Revoultion ain’t no thang

And I like to watch it bleed

Prisoners for Bisquick makers and I’m shaking like a family

Your life will still have meaning, but I doubt the album will suck...   kind of hard for an album to do that unless it is part of a vacuum.

If there's no "raise your hands up in the air" or some similar lyrics/lines on the album then I am drinking my AI.

Insert abusive thought here

negative assertion about yourself

where you don't belong

you're not a toy or a simple object

so why treat yourself this way

self loathing for eternity is all I have

so consider that

an endless cycle of self destruct

1972 ways to self harm

shouldn't that cause some alarm

writing too dark now make it quick

get so angry that you can spit

Not for the first time, this thread has gone off the rails 😄

Please do not get off topic.   Thank you... 😄

I firmly believe the cover will be predominately blue and purple, with some green.

And despite it being a bad idea, the guys will be on the cover as well.

The title will be Wreckage Heartbeat.

Here’s a tiny update for y’all from Jason at reddit/greenday.fm:

“So I asked about the 1972 title after the #not1972hashtag thing from the fan who met Rob Cavallo. I can confirm there is no official title for the record yet and they are still “in the middle of working on it”.

Pretty surprised to hear they are still working on it after this long - we are well over a year now since they first hit the studio in London. I think a lot of us presumed it was basically in the bag at this point but looks like they’re still going - epic record incoming? I think so.”

Dang was hoping it would come out sooner. Is this person credible?

I’m hoping it ends up being a double LP or even a “Trilogy Done Right”!!!
