We need that Christmas album, supposing we have to sign a waiver to get it!

Maybe Green Day will satiate us with the Dirty Polka Christmas album so the fanbase doesn't freak out while waiting on 1972.

Tis the season.    Also, I bet Tre and Mike sang a lot on that one.

From what we've heard so far is it safe to say 1972 is going to sound just like American idiot? I wonder how it'll deviate (besides modern BJA voice.)

until then, we can just guess and assume

I think we can presume that will sound like AI

Teasers is almost always referencing  songs of AI... even the studio they was recording.

(to the melody of American Idiot, with a dash of Amy and MCR's na na na for some reason)

Da na na na na na na na na na na

Da na na na na na na na na na na

I wanna live in 1972, sh!t

One nation soaring to the finish line

Can you hear Queen on the radio (gaga gaga gaga)

Freddie Mercury's a friend of mine (Freddie Don't you goooo)

Maybe I'm Father of all hippies

I'm not a part of Nixon, maybe baby I F like a Kennedy

Oh yeah!

I wonder if Rob told him to get rid of the filters this time

If so will it be another concept album? But what is the theme running through the songs?

And what of St.Jimmy, does he miraculously return? Maybe he's an eco-warrior, chaining himself to this and glueing himself to that. Causing total anarchy, chaos, confusion and mayhem. On the run from the police, he fought the law but the law didn't win. Anti government, anti establishment, strike strike strike. Up the revolution, there's gonna be a riot.

All songs will be in falsetto

1972 should definitely be all falsetto, and sound like a combination of Jesus of Suburbia and Ready, Fire Aim in one 5 minute abomination.  At least on one song.

Whatshername and Teenage Teenager but no instruments, just clap clap clap clap claping.

American Idiot Part 2:  a power ballad sort of with elements of Last of American Girls and even some elements of Jerry Fallwells Pool Party.    The song ends with  a big group chant of "ARE WE WE ARE THE NETWORK!!!!!"

St. Jimmy is using OKcupid and ends up dating Captain Underpants.

While nobody wants a rehash of Idiot, there are some cool things that could be brought back.

Kathleen Hanna and Jason Freeze could be featured again.  Maybe give Freeze a temporary "fourth member" status.

Do we ever hear Tre Cool's 'backing vocals'?   They need to be turned up in the mix and of course, the classic Dirnt harmony vocal has GOT to be a big part of the record.

Maybe a reference to the Boulevard of Broken Dreams in lyrics, but not the music.

and we all love when Green Day reuse lyrics from older songs to make song titles.    So "I've Been...Waiting"

and

"Across the Alleyway"

mabye some "10 Cup of Coffee"

"Overwhelming Sensation"

Unlike That Dude who just makes up titles, my dad works at Nintendo and they're actually making a Switch game about 1972 so got to see a leaked real track list.

1. The Way You Do That (0:49)
2. Killing Strangers (2:44)
3. Three Years Since Landing (3:04)
4. Hopeless Hopeful (3:31)
5. Forums Abuzz (2:52)
6. Forums Ablaze (3:47)
7. Where You Enjoy (4:00)
8. The First Time (3:34)
9. Absolutely Unimaginable Thing (2:30)
10. Unconstitutional (4:14)
11. TTFN (1:53)

BONUS:
12. Never Gonna Give You Up (Cover) (3:35)
13. Where's The Time Gone? (2:36)

JAPAN EXCLUSIVE:
14. Baby Shark (Cover) (6:14)

Guys, can we please stick to the discussion? Any other made-up BS should be posted somewhere else in this forum. (As I asked before).

Anyone listen to the Black Crowes 1972 EP?

I'd be willing to bet that no matter HOW Green Day do, theirs will be 40000% better.

Nothing against Black Crowes, but they are literally my least-favorite band.  Still IN my favorites, but at the very bottom.

You guys think the Black Crowes forums have wild theories like we do?

I peeked into the Guns N Rose's world with that trash side project and their forum was eerily like gda.  Like I felt as if it were you guys over there.

Anywho.

Dude Jr. Is spending the night for the first time tonight.   Gotta go.

I third this. Once in a while is funny but nearly every post on this thread the past couple weeks is non-sense.

x2!!

Please guys, let's keep the discussion about real 1972 stuff. It's really annoying to read tons of non-sense information.

Ah, the real 1972 stuff. This thread could be cut down to 4 pages.  :)

I'm thinking 1972 won't be a smash hit, but everyone that hears it will recognize that it's a strong effort and has good songs.

They'll hopefully represent the album with a few songs in the concert mix.    4 singles and then onto that glorious Album 15 thread.

Maybe the band could actually do something interesting and this thread wouldn’t be so full of nonsense. The past year has been shit and promoting coffee but not much else. Don’t bother teasing new music if it leads to nothing for this long. The fan base has been leaving for many reasons and the bands and managements lack of engagement is not helping.

But don't forget what they posted on TIkTok last week

"WTF WHAT a year ❤️🔥🥰 seeing you all at festivals, in between working recording our record in London & LA, doing a HELLA MEGA European tour playing the US East Coast, Chicago and Florida, San Francisco, shows in Brazil and Argentina. Playing Singapore to Austin Texas to Los Angeles charity show with Billy Idol, Jon Fogerty and The Who." I really think a formal 1972 announcement is coming soon, but how much time will they need to promote the Nimrod re-release?
