I've been trying to work out a deal to buy GDC for years. My goal is to buy GDC and do NYC with Billie Joe part 2. This time we will perform a song together. I will sing the Billie Joe parts and he will sing Norah's parts. Winning.

AI and 21CB were the albums that got me on board with Green Day. I might not even be into the kind of music that I'm into if I didn't hear those albums at the time and I might never have discovered them ever If the legacy band label was pinned on them in the early 2000's and they never got that 2nd big break in 2004, that wouldn't have been a great legacy. Not to say that their 90's albums are bad or anything, I don't think that at all, but Dookie was their only real hit album at the time and that's what they would be remembered for by most people and as much as I love that album, that would be such a waste. After AI and 21CB, albums like Insomniac & Warning that were initially considered disappointing started getting more love and appreciation and I don't think that would've happened if AI was never made. With a career with as many high points as they have, Green Day are never going to be forgotten. And it makes sense to use their legacy status to get more people into the band to listen to their old music and their new albums when they release, which is why I think theseanniversary editions of their old albums being released before their new album is a good idea. Generate some hype around Green Day a few months before releasing new music An alternative definition of a legacy in Cambridge Dictionary says quote: "something that is part of your history or that remains from an earlier time." Well Green Day has done that in my life. I feel so lucky and privileged to have fallen in love with Green Day back in '91 starting with Kerplunk then backtracking to 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours. And what a journey. Every awesome song that has come out of that amazing head of Billie Joe has been a progression a next step never a decline or step backwards. I've been like a ball in a pinball machine. Continually surprised and moving in different directions. Green Day are unique, no band is so diverse with its music. They've spent most of their life recording, touring, recording, touring. They must be well fucked. I know I am following them, but I wouldn't have it any other may. I'm so so grateful to them for changing my live and fulfilling my life so much. Not to mention all the live performances you will always treasure, after Kerplunk, your taken on a new journey into the land of Pinhead Gunpowder. The latter interspersing Dookie, Insomniac, Nimrod, and Warning. For me no decline just getting better and better. Later, along with more awesome studio albums, introducing us to the Network, FHTs, The Longshot, and Billie Joe's No Fun Mondays and Welcome To My Panic. No other band comes close. It's been 30+ years of breathless heaven, that's my legacy, I'm so grateful, and to share it with you means everything. 3

While I agree they are unique I still think there has been bands with more diversity in their musical progression. Rush The Clash Rancid (at times with Life Won't Wait and Indestructible) Queen? The Who? Black Flag? There's others that may come to mind later. I think for their specific scene it's true though. Most of their peers didn't even get out of Gilman. There's even claims GD ripped their sound off of Mr.T Experience but Mr.T Experience couldn't survive at Green Day's level and evolve the way they have. It's subjective too. The Clash definitely ventured into way more genres. Rush ventured more into technical musical pieces and progressions. 1 minute ago, Little Boy Named Booze said: damn i missed you I'm back. Minnesota Girl, Things I Heard Today and a whole C&V album.

I've got a warning that I want to live without. (*cheesey Green Day reference right there). I mentioned a politician at the height of some GDC skirmish (that you were possibly part of, 😄) and I didn't even know who the guy was! Got a warning not to discuss and it has traumatized me to this day. Made all my hair become shaved somehow! I mean made it all fall out. And hasn't it been proven that Rivers Cuomo is Kurt Cobain? He just learned to love writing less authentic music and got some plastic surgery.

Yes The Who loved them, The Seeker, Happy Jack, I Can't Explain, Substitute, too many to mention. Green Day's version of The Kid's Are Alright by The Who is IMO better than the original. Rancid, Let's Go, Radio my fav.
