On a technical definition level, yes of course this is them "marketing" their stuff to their fans, but this isn't marketing in the typical sense. Usually the marketing phase starts with an album announcement, followed by a single announcement, then comes release dates, ads and music videos. What we have here is just the boys in the studio playing around with songs and equipment. This is not what they want EVERYONE to see, which is why they are only posting it where they know the fans are listening and without the rest of the world judging their stuff before it's ready. We don't even have concrete info on what the album is or what it'll even be called yet besides the 1972 thing they have been throwing around. An announcement isn't an announcement until they say "This is our new album, it's called 1972 and here's some info about it".
