Well pack all your predictions in, Billie says in the new Kerrang interview that the new album probably won’t be out until 2023 😭😭😭

Wow maybe 2 years of promotion before the release 😂

Can you please post some scans of the article? For an album they're teasing so much right now, why would they wait to put it out next year? Especially since the first teaser came at the end of 2021!!!

Scans here

I thought with the title and 1972 tease this was some big celebrate turning 50 release. 2023 doesn’t make as much sense. And what was with the fact that they have a new record deal now and can release music more frequently and in any form they want all about? Seems like the same old album every 3-5 years and tour cycle thing to me.

Never thought I’d feel nostalgic for that. At least a single in 2022 would be something

Yeah, you would think the amount of teasing they're doing right now implies the album is right around the corner!!! If we do get a single this year, I hope the song at least is called 1972

What if we're getting more music than we think?!?!? What if we're getting a 6 track 1972 EP this year, recorded at RAK in London, and a full length rock opera next year, recorded at Ocean Way and Hanson?!?!?!?!?

I would manage those expectations if I were you

Fair enough, but it's like you said, 2023 is a bit late for a 50th birthdays celebration. Why would they teasing this much for an album that's still a long way away?

It may not be 1972 anymore, given the suspected release date and how they've been using that hashtag less lately.

1972 could also be the name of a song

I think we need to look at the videos as less than teases and more of a glimpse into what they’re up to, cause a teaser does make you think something is imminent and I’m not getting that vibe.

Wamp waaamp. Well hopefully they'll release a single this fall. At this point we'd be lucky to even get an announcement at the end of summer (after hella mega)

While I'd be happy with the album releasing in 2023 if they're really putting that much work into it -- I also think maybe don't take this Kerrang thing as gospel? Sounds more like he's trying to make a point about the weirdness of time after the pandemic etc. rather than saying definitively that that's when the album is coming out. I also don't think we know when the interview actually happened? Things could have changed/sped up since.

As long as we at least get a single this year, I think I'm happy

Exactly what I was thinking. What if the interview happened before the project was even known as 1972?

I'm fine with a 2023 release but it seems odd that the album that's supposedly meant to celebrate their 50 years alive is likely gonna release on their 51st year. I mean, if they don't think the album is gonna be ready for 2022, I'd definitely prefer for them to make sure they're happy with it before releasing it.

I am happy to wait and look forward to new music coming.  I’ve said all along they may just #1972 a lot this year due to them being 50 and it may mean nothing else. @Alf could be right too re Black Crowes album.

I think the plans changed since the first teaser, and I wouldn't be surprised if even some somgs teased don't male the final cut.

My guess is hat everything changed after Cavallo jumped onboard.

Even the 1972 title seems not to be a thing right now, maybe they choose to change it after the Black Crowes new album which has the same name

Do you think they changed it to avoid getting sued? I wonder if they’ll call it Sweet Children. Remember that album cover Billie shared in his Instagram story?
