Wait what? Did that actually happen?

It's probably an exaggeration of what he actually said, but I remember someone screaming about how much they hated it that I'd struggle to be able to tell the difference 😂

I dig it! I would love a proper Green Day album that digs into their 60s influences. Mash up These Paper Bullets with Foxboro Hot Tubs and it could be pretty great.

And more Beatlesque piano ballads and guitar riffs!!!!

I know Fantano gave It a zero, which is insane.  He said some pretty harsh things about it being the antithesis of punk and how Green Day had become what they hated and were making music for horrible people, etc.

I hate how horny Billie's voice in this song makes me. 🤣

I mean, he has written a lot of deep stuff about the hollowness of sex and drugs as an escape, and I think that comes through here as well.

Well, you probably ARE a stranger to Billie Joe so....

Too poppy for me. Very FBHT like. Not going to lie, I'd love to hear them come back to those deep Dookie sounding guitar riffs. Just my opinion, don't hate.

Valid opinion. No one is hating on you. I'm still processing and need to have a few more listens before I form a definitive view on it. First impression is I think it's neat and I personally like the Foxies vibes.

Like it or not, but again, the production (Butch Walker?) is superb in my opinion. Maybe mix is off, I'm not an expert, but I just like that sound of the guitars and drums, also the intro voice effect.

Do you mean Tony Fantano?

Wishing for a Shenanigans pt.2 released on the next RSD at this point, need all these little candies on vinyl :P

This song is really growing on me, deff my favorite out of the 5 spare singles we got since FOAM.

I like it as a stand alone song. I agree I don't really want them to pursue this style for the next record but I don't think anything they've released this year is an indication of what we can expect from the next album. I think each song has been created for a purpose - HCTS for NHL, Pollyanna for end of COVID restrictions/tour and this for a movie.

I wouldn't really call this "poppy" though it is also not the hard rock sound of their earlier work. I think it is s a huge step up from FOAM though and at least is moving back in a more rock direction. Love the drums in it especially; drums were way too muted on FOAM. This song is far less overproduced than anything on FOAM, though I would still like to see production stripped down a little farther. I think Butch Walker just can't resist the urge to start putting sound effects on everything. At least this time there were no claps LOL. But yes, I think they are going in a good direction and I really like this song, and like I said earlier, I can't wait to see what they come up with when they actually write songs for no one but themselves.

Plus I didn’t hear any synths in this new song

The sound kinda reminds me of RevRad🤔

To me, it’s kind of a mix. I can hear a bit of RevRad, the Trilogy, and 21CB

Exactly! It's a good rock song. As you noted above, you definitely hear the sounds of their past albums in it, especially the Trilogy. That's the cool thing about Green Day. They have lots of different influences on their music and try new things, but when you hear a Green Day song, you always know it is them. They are kind of a genre unto themselves LOL.

Yes, I do not personally know Billie and have never met him. I am unsure what this has to do with my initial post though. 🤣

Although I like FOAM, I admit that it didn’t really sound like them. Maybe it really was their way of saying “fuck you” to Warner.
