Cooper Castille
Has anyone been able to figure out which concert the audio was recorded at or was it like a mix of multiple performances like in the music video? It sounded terrific! (I was kinda hoping it was from the Houston show that I went see back in July, but I tried syncing the audio and it didn't match up, dammit lol)

Popular Post The Grohl
I am not a Kiss fan at all but this cover slaps. And the video is cute! I usually don't like live videos but the BTS stuff made it worthwhile. It was so wholesome and sweet!

Popular Post RedundantIdiot
"Daft. Bloody mad." That's how the family described GD after seeing the video. They were cackling at Kevin flying over the table. The video does a great job at capturing the travelling circus feel that GD tours have.

I don’t know how Kevin didn’t break something hitting that hard floor. He had to be pretty bruised at the least. That was nuts
AlissaGoesRAWR
I don’t think it’ll reach Africa levels by any means because it’s not exactly something quirky or unexpected. But it’s good.

But it’s good. Green Day should do a cover of The Man Comes Around by Johnny Cash, with all three guys trading lead vocals. Maybe Mick Jagger as well, have him wearing Fink's mask. THAT would be unexpected.

Perhaps I was thinking Africa is older and I think fairly highly regarded, it’s always been accepted I think as being a good song and bands tend to cover songs which are not too recent. Then I realised I have no idea how old the Kiss song is so maybe it’s not newer but many rock fans don’t really rate Kiss, it’s not really a great song. Just how I feel about I guess.

It’s older it’s from 1975. And it’s a simple song but a great stadium anthem
The Grohl
Do people think Africa is good? I thought that's partly why the Weezer cover blew up. The song hit meme status for whatever reason. I always felt people saw it as a meh song.

It was a hit for Toto in it's day, but you're right I think Weezer's cover was ironic and it was celebrated ironically as a bit cheesy

I would say Rock and Roll All Nite is about as classic rock as you can get... not surprising at all to have another rock band cover it. Africa was just sort of meme-ified with the Weezer cover. I don't think that song has nearly had as much lasting impact but holy shit did it blow up. It's just one of those cringe songs you think of when you think of the '80s. It was definitely intended to be a parody, I mean they even have Weird Al in the music video. ... and now I'm down this rabbit hole again 1
Montclare
Anytime I think of that song I think of this And great, now it's stuck in my head. So weird it became a hit again.

I don't know if it's swayed me enough to dig any deeper into these KISS guys, but maybe. Stranger things have happened. Green Day got me into The Who and Cheap Trick and a ton of other bands with their top tier covers. Kiss has inspired a lot of musicians who might have thought they weren’t good enough or needed a push or confirmation to start bands and what grew from there could have been anything. So many kids loved Kiss growing up and are now the giant talented musicians in the crazy good bands standing before you. Kiss is pretty DIY and confidence building inspirations for a lot of people thought about and then started playing music and started bands. Like him or not Gene Simmons is very driven and a hard worker and he made it happen for himself and his band.
