It's not just people who don't want to be vaccinated, it's people who haven't been able to get both shots yet and some who can't or have conditions that mean it's still dangerous even with the vaccine.

Again I'm not saying we shouldn't be lifting some restrictions/starting to return to normal, I'm glad we're doing that. But there's a difference between that and pretending it's OVER when we're not there yet and it's still useful to be cautious and wear a mask/social distance when possible/sanitise your hands a lot etc.

And even if it's very close to over where you live it doesn't mean it's as close everywhere in the world. So it's simply incorrect to declare "it's over" on a forum with international users.

No you're being selfish because you don't seem to care about the fact that people aren't vaccinated and that you could still spread the virus to them

Not where I live. I'm not travelling for godsake I'm staying in my city and right now 75% of the citizens have their 2nd shot. 
If our gvnmt tell us to stay inside and quarantine, I will. But now we can go outside and have a social life, seeing friends and doing parties.

I didn't realize you guys even still had any restrictions LOL. You had made it sound like everything was lifted.

Anyway, my workplace (one of them anyway) just made us wear masks indoors again even if vaxxed.

Still some restrictions. But I can live with them easily. I mean 25 people outside a private property and 20 inside is still a lot.
Honestly, seeing family/friends what was I missed the much. So I can live with those rules all my life

They had the freewill to be vaccinated though. Is there no consequence to our actions or our non actions?

It's not like it's costing them money or there's huge barriers to getting the vaccine. As Canadians we are funding mass vaccination clinics to remain open every day so anti vaxxers can continue to not come to their appointments, walk out half way through or choose not to go at all. 

This is the cost of the freedom they fought for.

I understand. Today I actually went into a restaurant and had lunch with a friend for the first time since the pandemic started. It has been a pretty lonely not being able to see people in person.

Now there is an new strain for the Delta Variant here in the Bay area in California.  The Delta Plus, triple contagious to the Delta. There have been over 50 cases found.  It attacks your lung cells and the vaccines do not work so far.  The say it is vaccine resistant.

Not seeing any masks go away anytime soon.

from the morning news .  I did read somewhere else that some dr said it is vaccine resistant but I can not find that article now. Will keep looking.

Also no restrictions at all where I am since early June, but that could change again if this Delta BS doesn't slow down.

Agreed. We can't go back to lockdowns. We need to get tougher about making people get vaxxed, and may need booster shots to deal with the new variants. The virus can't keep mutating if it doesn't have hosts. We have the tools to stop this.

Variants are arising because of the low vaccination rates in many places. COVID can incubate in people who are unvaccinated and mutate very quickly, bringing rise to new strains that are better at doing their jobs as a virus (i.e. spreading themselves and replicating) and more resistant to vaccines. This is just what happens when you do not reach heard immunity levels of protection. If we'd accomplished that from the beginning, we would be in a much better place. Pushback on getting vaccinated has got to stop or we're going to be fighting this longer and longer. It's now an evolutionary arms race. Red Queen Hypothesis, anyone?

Oh, yeah. Whoops! Kind of lost sight of the forest for the trees there.

This does really make me concerned about the concerts, though. Massive gatherings of people like that are a perfect place for variants to be transmitted and the resistance some are showing is worrying. I've decided I'm going to sell my pit ticket after all. I'll try to get a seat ticket instead if I can still find any good ones. At least then I won't be shoulder to shoulder with people in a sweaty, screaming mass. I'm hoping there will be stricter mask rules again by then, though I'm not sure how that would be realistically enforced at an event like Hella Mega.
