"I like to have my coffee as strong as possible. I mean really really really strong. Black. I don’t wanna sound like a tough guy, but no one else can really drink the coffee that I like to make. It’s near meth haha"

I hope this near meth coffee can help them make a near insomniac album 🙃

I mean... the comparison works surprisingly well.

Just had a look at those photos Billie posted from around his house back in Nimrod times - the leopard print goes way back lol:

Cute interviews! Though I prefer Billie clean shaven he's looking mighty fine in the new pic 😍 and yeah he looooves leopard print. He looks so good in it that I've been on the hunt for a leopard print shirt and blazer...still no luck.

Same. Last year I tried to find a leopard print blazer but didn‘t find one with an acceptable quality. Looks like Billies blazers are custom made

Billie Joe is full of contradictions. Rock’n’roll is supposed to make you feel bad? Said during the release of FOAM? I could be wrong. I know there’s a lot of people here better at remembering quotes. And then Pollyanna is that a positive song or an ironic song? Everything is going to be alright don’t let me down? And then that Rolling Stone interview from early 2020 with a breakdown of different songs and era and inspiration and then the same kind of idea and theme of life and inspiration during Welcome to My Panic and then this Oakland Coffee House “interview” of convenient and edited well-thought-out “quotes”:

“Inspiration comes in all forms for me. It could be hearing a new song, it could be going surfing, it could be hanging out with my dogs. I could just be hanging out with my friends and playing music together. Inspiration is sort of overrated. I’d prefer to work. When you work with music and art, you usually come up with something you love. And that’s what inspires you to keep doing what you love.”

Most of his best most interesting stuff he writes on his own and he definitely gets ideas and inspiration from somewhere. Sure it could all come out when locked in a room (or whatever he does) and writing but the inspiration comes from somewhere.

Inspiration is not overrated and I don’t think he really thinks that either. His song catalog is too varied and too interesting and inspired and feels so real and honest most of the time. It’s too good to not come from a place of inspiration and even if a good work ethic is part of the equation. Inspiration is there and it is not overrated otherwise it wouldn’t mean so much to so many people.

Basically… this guy is a walking contradiction. What is he saying? I think this Oakland Coffee House interview this (if it is an interview?) is just a convenient cute little blurb of fluffy nothingness. I do believe he has a leopard print chair though. And he likes to stay up late.

Or maybe he just means this is what is normal for writing and inspiration right now since he can’t really do much right now but that’s not the normal way things have been done in the past for the writing process.

I am a Green Day fan. One of those types that reads too much into everything. Green Day fans. Sleuthing experts and not likely to take too many things too lightly sometimes. Depends. Green Day fans are passionate and serious and can be a lot of fun. Just like the band.

It’s a promo interview to get people to buy coffee, you can’t really compare the kind of answers he gives in this context to his audiobiography where it was appropriate to get a lot more in depth and he spent quite a lot of time on not so wholesome subjects. FOAM era interviews were something different entirely. I’m just going to say I have an opinion about that that I’d get yelled at for.

Yeah I’m reading into too much into it. I find it disappointing but it is what it is. It’s fluffy meaninglessness with a purpose of adding content to get people to go to the website to buy coffee. It’s so transparent but still I found it disappointing. Wholesome wholesomeness contradiction.

LOL I am super confused by what is going on here (as usual), but yeah, I would say this is a very light-hearted "interview" for coffee promotion and not to be taken too seriously. I think we have a decent idea of Billie's approach to life by now. Also, people's approaches and opinions change throughout their lives, and differing ideas can be simultaneously true. As far as inspiration, personally I think it is a balance. You can't force it, but you also can't wait around for it to strike because you will be waiting a long time LOL. Sooner or later you have to just start putting pen to paper, and as you pour out ideas it will eventually come together.

I think the FOAM era interviews were a combination of the frustration we were all feeling in 2019/2020 in Donald Trump's America combined with a finger stuck in the eye of Warner.

I mean, yeah, you’re right. They’re pushing the coffee a little too much these days.

I don’t mind the pushing of a product. It’s theirs, it’s a great product and all those good things.

As far as the “interview” I think it would have been better if it didn’t say anything at all if it was going to be so contrived. It’s either being read by a Green Day fan or a potential Green Day fan… Or maybe a potential consumer who wouldn’t get it or give a care or second thought and I guess that’s the point.

As a Green Day fan I found it disappointing. As a coffee drinker I am a fan of the coffee.

Inspiration is definitely overrated and used as an excuse to not make something. Inspirational moments certainly happen but you have to put in the work so you know how to seize those moments effectively. Also you can make good things without divine inspiration.

Totally agreed. You really have to start doing something and get into the flow and then things will fall into place. If you just keep waiting to be inspired it may well never happen.
