"Pollyanna" - NEW SONG

I’ve not been feeling my love for GD lately but this has certainly revived it. I like it a lot.
Can’t wait to get off work to listen to it a bunch more. (had to take a break and walk around the block for my first listen!)

I dig it, It has meaningful lyrics. However I just wish there was climax, feeling like it needed a lift in the middle or something

Its got some soul but not something I see myself bopping to much in the future. Certainly a step in the right direction

Generic, simplistic, no punch in the chorus, in that stead a cliche melodie ('share your bread with friends...'), Billies vocal filtered again. Just a happy, pop-rock song to be forgotten in a while.

I can't see the point to put out a new song, which is just a reminder of the tour and it's a total filler in their catalogue.

They said a lot of times that they don't wan't to record stuff they once did, like returning to Dookie or Insomniac sound or to compose another rock opera. Actually, every band, every musician have the same attitude, not to record the same stuff over and over again.

EDIT: But they change their mind trying to repeat trilogy and foamf, making the songs structure even simpler.

I know it's just a song, but the song indicates that the next album that we look forward to is going to have the same vibe as fomf. I like foam to some extend, didn't get the whole critisim.. but I don't need more simplistic, formulaic pop-rock songs with flat guitars. Billie is apparently happy with himself and keen on the direction GD is taking, like hating long songs and imitating old-school rock and roll and, worse still, advertising it as a pure rock and roll (no Swedish songwriters). Here we go again 🙃

Green Day font is similar to HCTS one and lyric video is I similar style so maybe I am wrong and We will get another album or maybe it's just font and style for some singles.

Also I have to say it’s nice to hear something that isn’t “look I’m SO EDGY” coming from Billie

If HCTS makes it on an album, I’m going to scream

True not my favorite but I am psycho fan I will take everything from them

OMG those lyrics, I mean the message may be good, but it's just to clichéd

Musically, is trilogy-level dull and boring. Billie has totally run out of good melodies. That chorus is terribly dissapointing, too. I don't know if they're not capable of doing something interesting anymore or they just don't care.

Yeah like Warning I was thinking the inspirational message is similar to Hold On

Good comparison.

I like it!  Nice to hear a happy, looking forward type song.  I like the whistling at the end, but also wish it was longer.  I really like it musically and still get a bit of a Cars vibe.

I'm assuming the hot dog cover art is meant to signify the ballparks they'll playing. Even more reason to believe it's just a stand-alone single

I listened and let a huge sigh of relief. It's waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than HCTS!!! 😄

Seriously though, cool little tune. Generic, yes, but it's still nice to hear it, especially during these pandemic. The situation might be improving in the US and Europe but here in Brazil it's still dire, so it's nice to hear something positive. This song kind of gives you a bit of strengh, you know? But I confess I don't understand the hot dog on the cover!

One thing I'm curious to hear your opinion: tbh, so far I just listened on my shitty laptop phones but I'm curious to know what you guys think about the drumming. I feel it doesn't sound like Tré's playing... or is it just bad mixing?

Eight-song album.

Another lazy effort?

If we’re talking about an EP that we’ve already heard two songs from, one pure uncut shit and the other is ok, there’s not that much to talk about, is it...

It's sad because their side projects show they're capable of much more than this generic shit.
