He’s a poor man’s Fantano

While I look more like Fantano, my taste is like Jon.   Fantano hates everything I love, which I like watching as well.

I can't wait to hear his take on this song.  I can't spell it and I'm done pretending that I can.

Don't you have like Spotify or something so you can just listen to the songs for free and then buy the album physically when it releases?
That's what I do anyway.

I have Apple Music now, so I am doing it like that as well, since a few weeks 😄

Let me guess.

All of you hate it.

Actually, it's an uptick from the last few years.

Yes, that’s exactly what happened, except it made sense, but in a way that made Billie look like an asshole. So let’s pretend it never happened so we can enjoy the song!

lol a happy song with happy lyrics but let's look deep deep deep because I want to find a word to make Billie look like an asshole.

When hearing the song with these lyrics, the rest of the song strangely seems to start making a lot more sense to me 🤣

Well it is called Pollyanna. 🙂

He’s written plenty of songs like you describe, I think here he’s trying to express a different feeling. After the year most of us have had, feeling like you’ve come through it (mostly, in the US at least) feels euphoric. I had this feeling just going to the park recently you have a whole new appreciation of life.  It’s not the time to say life sucks but we’re getting through it. He always manages to put his finger on what people are feeling in this moment right now and this song is no different. Our house is buzzing with talk of concerts, trips and visits. I went to restaurants recently for the first time in over a year. That felt euphoric. I’m excited for summer.  It’s like we’ve hit the reset button and are back to appreciating every little thing. That’s what this song is to me.

I can tell this song will soon be a number 1 hit for the summer!!!!

I don't know about this "trying to make Billie look like an asshole" stuff, but I wouldn't blame people for thinking there's quite a bit of sarcasm in the song, I am still 50/50 on that personally.

At least HCTS was a leftover from FOAM that's why it was so bad.
Thank god Pollyanna is good and it's good sign for the next album!

I don't know at all. I'm just listening to the beat and I love it!

Glad to hear that! I really like it sonically too and think it is a big step up from FOAM. I think it is kinda a double-edged sword lyrically, on one-hand talking about things getting better in a literal way but then having some subtext of the fact that there is still a lot wrong in the world that people might be all too willing to ignore now.

If it came out as Here Comes the Shark and was featured in a kids show, I would have liked it a lot better.

Green Day should offer pre-listenings to GDC. I bet that they would have featured a shark in the music video if they knew what we hear 😄

Something like Oh Yeah is pretty bad but at least it has a more clear message. I get that Father of All is kinda generic but at least I see what they were going for. And it's more rock and roll to me even if having green day sounds with it makes it more generic. You really have to wonder with a lot of these songs since the trilogy whether they're making fun of themselves or making fun of mainstream rock/pop. They are not their best when pushing pop punk sounds too far. That works better for the side projects but not green day

I still think FOAM was their way of saying “Fuck you” to Warner.

I don’t think thats true to be fair.

Not everybody likes the same things, he is entitled to his opinion and i am ok with the fact that its entirely possible that i will either agree with it or disagree with it.

To say he hates everything is just true.

He really liked Ok Human, loves the Strokes (For the most part), and lots of good hip hop.

He's also introduced me to some great artists (Remo Drive - when they were good with their first album aha, Charli XCX, etc).

All of his criticism of Green Day is recent years is totally valid. Even as a Green Day fan, I can't argue with some of his points.

Pretty sure Fantano hasn't liked Green Day since at least the 90s.

I don't care for Fantano. He basically dislikes or is indifferent to all the albums I like & I feel like everyone takes Fantano's opinions on music as an objective measure of whether an album/song is good or bad

He introduced me to Oliver Tree and Tom Mcdonald.   He hates Tom but kind of likes Oliver.

He hates all the well known, pop rock stuff like Green Day.

He's very hip.

Absolutely. People watch his reviews before even listening to albums and then regurgitate opinions that aren't theirs - although I guess that's not really his fault
