Gwen Stacy
Does anyone know if this will have any kind of physical release? Call me old fashioned but I’d love to buy a 7 inch of this. I know it’s been a while since they did it for a single, but I’d buy the shit out of that.
Popular Post Slave To The Network
I like it! It's a really sweet message and something that a lot of people probably need right now. Not super original, but it's nice of them to do after all the tragedy the world has been through recently and is still going through right now. It's not their best work by any means, but it's a solid song that I wouldn't say no to listening to if it came on shuffle. Magnitudes more enjoyable than HCTS for sure!
Rumpelstiltskin2000
Kinda sounds like an NFM song to me even though it's an original! Only listened the once so far and quite like it, sure it will grow on me.

Popular Post ollhjr
I thoroughly enjoy this new track! This was so unexpected to me, even with the tease a couple of days ago. So it was a wonderful surprise to check the socials during lunch today to see a new song, along with the confirmation that the tour is back on, and that a new date was added for Summerfest! After a long year, and with a lot happening in my life in the last few months in particular, this was a positive boost that can carry me for a while. We will see what all gets released, but this has the chance to be my song of the summer and even the year. For me it gave the right message at a much needed time for me. It reads the room to me metaphorically for the optimism of the current moment, even if to some the lyrics come across as cliche. After the escapism of sorts that was FOAM, this comes from a more honest space lyrically, and does more to reflect the mood of our current times, which is something I want to see more of moving forward for Green Day. Sure there will be a time for more intricate lyrics, but for me right now this gives a reassuring message after some rough times for me. It reaffirms the power of music and why I love this band!
Popular Post Thatsername
Woah this was a nice surprise! Every step out of their destructive yolo-party-until-you-die-attitude is a step in the right direction for me, so even though it still has to grow on me, I think I like it. I love the positive message. We all need a Billie telling us everything is gonna be alright these days, I guess🥺

Just a happy, pop-rock song to be forgotten in a while. This. I listened to an hour ago and already forgotten it. I thought the idea of putting out music more frequently would be a good thing, but if they’re just going to churn out generic stuff like this I’d rather they don’t. Having said that I’ll eat my words somewhat if they’re secretly working on a great album and just putting out b sides in the meantime. I say somewhat because it still damages your name if you release sub par material in the interim.

Stark
I was on youtube last night and suddenly saw the new lyric video xD. I like it tbh, his vocal is pretty clear and the song is catchy with meaningful lyrics instead of "baby got the hyporbole" or "here comes the shock" . I can see they are releasing new singles and then album afterwards. Just like No Fun Mondays. The verse is actually a recycle of his old song (I Want Revenge - The Boo) and I love it!!! Billie Joe did that too with Angel Blue. This song has that trilogy vibe but better. It's too good to be a Longshot song but it's still not the OG Green Day vibe. Also I've decided to cover the song on guitars

God help us if that's true... I honestly hope these are just stand alone releases. I think my "fan pride" just couldn't handle HCTS actually being on an album lol

I have talked about the possibility of more of a Shenanigans style collection of odds and ends rather than something along the lines of albums we've been seeing recently. Think FOAM but even less focused and more random. I could see all of the recent 3 singles being on a 10-12 track album of this style. You know, something to throw out there to keep the music flowing (and kind of wash away the bad taste of FOAM a little) for the next few years or so while the boys figure out and work on whatever they are doing next. 6 hours ago, That Dude said: Waiting and Ordinary World are positive. Last night on Earth as well. The rest have ups and downs, emotional complexity both sad and glad, sometimes at the same time. Which I think this song does a little bit. There's some snark in this song, particularly in the waiting in line part. Heck, that harkins back to Forever Now with Billie saying he ain't gonna stand in line no more! Whoa! There have been plenty of positive Green Day songs. RevRad is actually almost full of them. The main difference is here Billie is just straight up singing about "life is wonderful" but in those songs, and many many others, Billie is being realistic. Think more: Life isn't always wonderful. Life can be really fucked up... but lets embrace who we are, lets look how far we've come. We're still breathing. We're still alive.
jengd
It’s a bop, I wasn’t expecting it nor would I have bet on their next release being such a positive one with Billie’s bright voice but think we could use a little positivity!

StillBreathing
Okay after listening all day... this is SO MUCH BETTER than HCTS I kinda love the simple production, I think a whole Green Day album with this kind of production would be perfect - similar to the Trilogy (without those vocal filters) but I feel like it will be received a lot better now it’s not coming off the back of two massive rock operas/the fact that it was three albums/ and also the fact that they aren’t that mainstream anymore so 11 to 14 songs like this production and with good decent lyrics would be pretty cool I reckon

After the year most of us have had, feeling like you’ve come through it (mostly, in the US at least) feels euphoric. I had this feeling just going to the park recently you have a whole new appreciation of life. It’s not the time to say life sucks but we’re getting through it. He always manages to put his finger on what people are feeling in this moment right now and this song is no different. Our house is buzzing with talk of concerts, trips and visits. I went to restaurants recently for the first time in over a year. That felt euphoric. I’m excited for summer. It’s like we’ve hit the reset button and are back to appreciating every little thing. That’s what this song is to me. 6

There's no news yet, but if enough of these "One off" kind of songs happen, I could totally see them being put on a compilation album kind of like what happened with NFM to make something Shenanigans-esque. I feel it's worth mentioning however, that the band has had more than enough b-sides after the first compilation record to make another one but never did. So many fantastic songs came out of the AI/21CB era and I would LOVE to own a physical release of them, but I doubt that is going to ever happen now... So who knows if they will ever do something like that again? 1 minute ago, pacejunkie punk said: Well it is called Pollyanna. 🙂 He’s written plenty of songs like you describe, I think here he’s trying to express a different feeling. That’s what this song is to me. That's awesome! I am glad it's vibing and resonating with a lot of people, especially those that need a burst of positivity in these difficult times. For me personally it's just a tiny bit too much positivity you know? where it just kind of doesn't feel super genuine, but again, that's probably just me. I guess I am weird in the fact that darker songs actually give me more hope than positive songs.. It could be that I just prefer the "make the best of a shitty situation" kind of positivity than the "life is wonderful, lets celebrate and be happy" kind, if that makes any sense? 😄 Then again, maybe I have just never known true happiness. I honestly have no idea 🤣
