I hope this record has nothing to with covid or this past year. I hope it’s reflective if anything but not about the past year of basically being alone and sadness and tragedy and being forced to be isolated. I hope it’s like that kind of writing he talked about on Welcome to My Panic. Him being isolated because of his heart and feeling withdrawn because of his heart and funny ideas and emotions. I hope it’s more like that. Maybe the past year has him thinking more like that but I hope the writing is personal and feels like it comes from a real place. Being personal creates more of a connection and resonates more with fans. I didn’t really feel that stuff with FOAM although that record was really fun. RevRad was ok for that. Trilogy the best and definitely got better with time and more listens.

With the return of concerts, I can smell a real kickass stadium anthem!!!!

Does anyone know if they’re actually done with Warner? Would this next album be their first independent release, or have they signed a new contract with Warner?

I love the optimism but not sure this is hinting a new album yet, maybe it’s just another single. Can’t wait for a new teaser to figure out.

Whoa whoa whoa, who said anything about a new album? I was just thinking this is a new stand along song like HCTS. I guess that wouldn't make any sense, though. Hopefully we'll find out soon.

I almost forgot Green day still can release new albums XD.  If its anything close to the Longshot I am super happy. Billie looked pleased and proud.  Can't wait

I think it’s very likely any new album will be with Butch Walker; he’d mentioned in interviews last year that he would be working on their new material whenever they could get back into a studio. Obviously things can change but the guys seemed to really like working with him and FOAM was actually critically well received regardless of what some of the more fervent fan base thought.

Personally I thought FOAM was a great album and want to see BW return. I’d be happy for them to lose the garage rock elements which I think they’ve mined pretty thoroughly over the Trilogy and FBHT (could have lived without SYITH on FOAM), and possibly return to a more pop punk sound but with BW production , and some of the more eclectic styles we’ve seen since Nimrod onwards thrown in.

It is possible this may end up being a pre- Hella Mega tour EP or even a Billie side-project (The Longshot pt II).

Finally!! I missed the last speculation thread ❤️

(The song reminds me a bit of Last of the American Girls)

I'm still not over it the idea of someone teasing us with Sound The Alarm (im actually hearing it right now) xD but this sound good, I love the blond already and like someone says its a fact that he's in the mood for making an album so its serious I hope, sounds like 21st tho 🥰🥰🥰

As much as find the drums a little painful to listen to in this short clip, I'd challenge the assertion that this sounds just like FOAM. If anything it goes more in the direction of the Longshot or even some more pop-oriented 80s punk riffs. In some ways it even gives me slight Killers vibes and I don't mind that at all.

It certainly doesn't sound like "classic Green Day", but it doesn't have to. I wasn't a great fan of FOAM, but I didn't mind Love is for losers or some of the new Network stuff. So, as long it feels like there's some effort and heart that's gone into it, I'll take it.

the terrible sounds of the drums (and the bass) i really hope it's because they're pc generated but it has some potential, it's like that footage seeing on Cuatro that it's like just Billie playing the guitar in front of everyone while he's explaining how the song has to be and it's happen to be a masterpiece (or barely as good as he thought to be) 😊

I'm not sure if they would show a demo of a song on the official Green Day channel, when Tré and Mike would not have been involved 🤔

what a lovely way to start the day! i dont use instagram, so its always nice to have you guys backing us non-instagramers up with these teases

the snippet sounds good/interesting, but too short to tell how it could turn out in the end

obviously it has nothing to do with longshot etc because its uploaded on the official greenday account

my first reaction was "new album?!", but you cant be sure with greenday, maybe they really used their time during the pandemic to do a full new lp, maybe its just another standalone song to support the upcoming hellamega tour (if it happens for the US in 2021), we will see, i am hyped, but i wait for more teases/information on this

I don't think they'd release something like this just for a standalone single

To the people complaining about the drum sounds being fake, the intro is just a click track, which is something the studio uses to keep timing right, after those first 4 hits the drums sound fine, at least they did on my headphones

Plus the fact we’re hearing it from Billie’s phone doesn’t really do it justice!

I think people aren’t a fan of the fatter less punchy sound of them. The mix seems very foam like to me, but we will have to wait for an actual clip and not something from a phone haha

Every other band has dropped an album during the pandemic. Green Day technically hasn’t (a niche side project and solo covers collection but not Green Day under the flagship brand name) so they really should. I agree if this was just a single they would announce it and drop it all at once like HCTS not tease an intro and show them in the studio. They’ve all been quiet for six months. I smell an album.

And didn’t Billie say in an interview that they plan to release music more frequently after FOAM? If he is in fact teasing a new album, this all adds up!!! I wonder if this means we’ll have a new single by the summer!!!!
