If they are working with Butch again (which I seriously doubt), I would expect a 180 from the FOAM sound. They aren’t oblivious to what the fans thought. I just don’t see them mining that territory again. The snippet makes me think they’re returning more to their tried and true formula. I’ll gladly take it at this point.

Why do you seriously doubt it? I don't think they really care what the fans think at this point. Every album of theirs gets a lot of hate from certain groups. FOAMF may have gotten more hate than a lot of their other albums but I don't see them abandoning that sound just because some fans didn't like it. And that's coming from someone who didn't like it that much either

 

I wasn't expecting a teaser. I'm not gonna judge based on that 5 second teaser though. It sounds okay I guess. Not amazing but it's only a small part of one song which probably isn't even finished yet.

I doubt they'll bring back Cavallo. Since 2004, they've only worked with him once, on the trilogy. And the trilogy was definitely a mixed bag for the fandom, for commercial audiences and even during RevRad, Billie had acknowledged that the trilogy was flawed

So I just listened to this and I agree with others that it is very hard to determine much from a clip so short. If it is indicative of the rest of the song I would say it is a better sound than FOAM. We know they like to try new things and each of their albums differs from its predecessor, so I think another new sound likely is coming.

Also not sure why Billie sounds like he ate a helium balloon. 🤣

I think they’ll go back to Cavallo at some point. If I remember correctly he was one of the first people Billie sent demos of the songs that would become RevRad  so I think they definitely still value his opinion.

Of course they care. FOAM was an experiment. In the eyes of most fans, it was a disappointment at best, outright failure at worst. I just would be shocked to see them continue down that path.
