all the talk about a new album billie said when foam was released theyd be able to just release a single without needing an album. also warner probably offered them what they wanted after all the talk they did in the press

On a side note: All the theories around what kind of sound will/should come next are obviously complete baseless fandom fantasies, BUT I have to say, in some way FOAM might actually have primed us (and the wider Green Day public) for another concept album, whichever shape it may take. As much as I love American Idiot, I didn't actually want the last album to be a concept album (and certainly not just another AI/21CB). Now on the other hand (and maybe this also has to do with the turbulent last few days/weeks/months of the Trump presidency and the roller-coaster year with the pandemic), I'm more than ready for one! 

Be that as it may though, it's really cool that we're getting a new song so soon and I'm really excited, no matter what the song ends up sounding like!

Sorry I kinda fucked you all up with that one. My info was fucked and I was confused. I'm tired. Lol. Although their album contract/requirement was met, it doesn't mean they aren't still with them. Maybe they need to stay through the tour to support FOAM, or maybe they worked out another deal or are going album by album. Point is, I really don't actually have ANY fucking idea what is going on with their contract 🤣

All this talk about "BANG BANG" and "Maria" is getting me all riled up ;)   Throw in some killer guitar riff, and that's hella mega combination!

now I've got this fictional chorus stuck in my head -  "HERE THE SHOCK, MARIA / HERE COMES THE SHOCK!"   

The guitar tone I'm hearing in my head is a blend of Revolution Radio and "Maria", but with just the right amount of American Freaking Idiot as well.  

OH YEAH!

OH YEAH!

I wonder what this song is about?    Happy or sad?  Angry or apathetic?     Or, ya know, a party song for the apocalypse.

I'm my usual excited and nervous self before listening to a new GD song, but looking forward to hearing it. And for once the time difference means people in the UK can follow what happens tonight rather than during the middle of the night.

Based on the art I'm thinking this isn't just something FOAMF-esque (not that I would mind if that was the case). As others have mentioned it seems like a homage to AC/DC, so I'm expecting something a little more meaty and rock sounding.

Then again, FOAMF was supposedly a look into the history of rock and roll so maybe that does fit with it just being a rejected track from that. Either way I'm excited!
