Also, I know they said they would never go into the studio without lyrics again, but recreating the miserable experience of recording Nimrod could be a total win, with a payoff of an amazing album. One that will have Billie joe crying at the end. Speaking of crying at the end, John Roecker says he has over 300 hours on unreleased Green Day footage. I know I can't buy it off him, but maybe one of you rich bleeper could. What do you think? Finders Fee for me? I like the part about Billie Joe crying at this end. Possible hangover that wasn’t his fault.
Red
I don't know what I expect but fuck, just please go full progressive rock and release one last epic concept album please. Just something that flows without a hitch from beginning to end and tells some kind of meaningful narrative. Only then I can die happy.

Well it could be that Rob Cavallo produced the upcoming MCR album (if there will be one), so maybe he wants to reunite with GD as well 😄
Doggins
I think the new album will be much the same what we've heard the last few years. I have a bit of a theory that artists are in their creative prime in their 20s and early 30s Don't get me wrong, I love that They're still making music and hope they continue to do so, I just set the bar fairly low these days Hope they prove me wrong!

I think artists sometimes make some of their best stuff in their late 30's / early 40's. I mean, Green Day were in their late 30's when they made 21CB. I think there's a certain maturity that some artists get once they're in their 30's, but by the time they're in their mid-40's they've sort of run out of things to say and then end up saying nothing or just repeating what they've been saying for years 3

GDFan2019
I just realized that Billie will be turning 50 in February, so what if the theme of the next album is mid-life crisis?!?!?!?

I didn't appreciate it enough at the time because I was still an AI fanboi and nothing could top that.. but it is such an amazing album Ah.. the good ol days I have a kind of biased opinion because I always loved 21CB as it was the first time I had ever been able to buy a new GD album the day it came out, since back then I had only been a huge fan for a few years, and that was after I discovered AI. The experience of taking a bus into the city and buying the 21CB special edition, looking at all the art on the way home and finally being able to pop the CD into my computer and read along with the songs playing while being immersed in the story and art of the album is an experience I will never, ever forget. However, It wasn't really until now that I have been listening to it often but with a more critical perspective, that I can fully appreciate just how hard the boys worked on this record from front to back, making almost every single song fully realized and as good as it can be. There is SO MUCH going on musically and experimentally in 21CB that looking back, I just don't understand how it didn't end up being even bigger than AI, honestly. It's like 21CB was supposed to be GD's Abbey Road, their magnum opus. It just never seemed to be reflected that way by the public. I remember people saying stuff like "they were trying too hard to be like U2" (Yes that was a real comment I heard 😂), as well as comments like "They think they are bigger than they actually are", or "They copied The Black Parade" (which is one of the reasons it took so long for me to look past the MCR fanbase and start to appreciate the band's music). It's heart breaking, honestly... Looking back, I can't really blame the boys for wanting to go back to basics after that, since after all they put so much blood, sweat and tears into almost every aspect of 21CB, and it somehow didn't surpass their previous work in the public eye when this really should have made the band even bigger and even more widely appreciated. A few nights ago I even had a dream that the band put up the 21CB font as their social media picture and then announced another 21CB tour along with a spiritual sequel album. Whether or not that was just a dream or somehow in an alternate universe it actually happened and that version of me somehow communicated it to this version of me is a whole other thing that I am already starting to confuse myself with so I am just gonna see myself out before I end up writing a novel on here about it 😅. TLDR: The album really is an underrated masterpiece, and I really hope the band will revisit the concept again in the future. 6
Popular Post GDFan2019
Another thing I just realized, in 2022, it will be the 10th anniversary of the Trilogy!!! I wonder if they will finally give it the love and attention it deserves, play more Trilogy songs on tour, and release a complete Otis Mix of all 3 albums!!!! Because so far, we only got Fell For You, Oh Love, Wild One, and Lazy Bones!!! 2

FOAMF just sounds like they're trying to stay young and hip and it's a bit embarrassing 37 minutes ago, GDFan2019 said: Another thing I just realized, in 2022, it will be the 10th anniversary of the Trilogy!!! They don't usually do anything big for 10 year anniversaries anyway I'm pretty sure, they're certainly not gonna for the trilogy. Maybe we'll get a few otis mixes but nothing more than that

Yeah with FOAM, it seemed like Billie put on some kind of persona and even in the interviews where he said he hates long songs and doesn’t want to sing about politics. That’s not the real Billie!!!

The Trilogy felt so genuine and it felt like a connection of emotions when I listened to it. Some songs were hit and miss with that but in general it felt like real connection with the listener. Those records were so good. Genuine is a great way to describe the edge and so much more on those records. So good. Holy hell I can’t believe the ten year anniversary is next year. I still listen to those records a lot more than any other Green Day. They become more timeless and real after living a bit more life and having more relatable experiences. Billie Joe maybe needs to live more life again or remember how he felt when he wrote the songs that connect or write from that perspective he’s more than capable and so good at it and maybe not write from a character or an idea that he’s not super connected to. Maybe he became too much of a different guy once he tried the falsetto or something. Maybe FOAM felt more of a caricature of living a vibrant and interesting life than the perspective he wrote from for the Trilogy or the Longshot. Not about edge per se but about a bit more honesty and writing from the heart even if it’s just from the imagination the feels felt real… the writing felt more genuine. I really wonder what the next record is going to be like. I have no idea. Green Day is surprising and that’s a really good thing. No expectations. I’d be surprised by anything. Even if it’s been done before because that would be surprising too. I have no idea what direction they’ll go next and that’s amazing as a fan. So very much looking forward to what happens next.
