Well thb I‘m not that sure about that anymore as I was a year ago. Billie said last year that they are already working on the follow up with Butch Walker. But there was so much time in between and there was literally no social media posts with Butch in the meantime despite any hints for a new album. HCTC was produced by Butch but then Pollyanna was produced just by GD. And the fans’ feedback on Pollyanna was so much better that on the stuff before. So maybe they don‘t work together anymore 🤔

Like, it's better than most of the tracks but it's not like a top tier green day song though

Clockwise
I probably like 8/10 songs on FOAM more than Pollyanna.

Nothing is gonna be alright and nothing has changed. Look at a lot of our lives… what has changed besides isolation and some bad news? Same shit that made you sad before is likely magnified or otherwise overshadowed. It’s still there. Although maybe it means you might realize this and make some changes. That’d be great if that’s the case. I like FOAM way better (although I’m not saying I don’t like Pollyanna I’m just saying I don’t like it that much). Andddddd now I’m going to listen to FOAM. Not usually my first choice if I’m listening to a GD album from beginning to end but today seems like a good day to listen to FOAM. Way better for a pandemic mood in isolation.
Popular Post Mato
A fully thought out big record, produced by Rob Cavallo and mixed by Chris Lord Alge. 6

I hope the fuck yes. This. Yes. Let’s see. Wait! I still love the Trilogy. Totally not thought out sending the baby down to the store to buy cigarettes and it was beautiful. Or the Longshot. Poetry in motion. With Rob Cavallo please.

They made it and promoted it sure but to me never got that enthused and rarely played more than the required singles during promotion, even at the record release show. Billie never seemed that comfortable with the new material to me.

But at the same time, a lot of people have said "Oh they just released a crap album to get out of their contract" and that's just completely wrong imo. I don't think they'd release something if they didn't think it was worth releasing and them doing that just makes them look bad, not the label
That Dude
Tunny: The Album Tunny escapes from Suburbia yet again and explains his connection to The Network in this sprawling record about death, psychosis and morbid obsession. He faces insurmountable odds as he battles the corrupted Johnny and Amanda, who are running an evil NFT empire and are trillionaires. The statue of liberty still shows us some hope, but a minor line about Planet of the Apes show how hopeless it has become. We have returned. Man. To. Ape. All is lost. For now....

They're not identical, slightly different guitar sounds etc but it's on that 'power pop' vibe or whatever you want to call it. 1 hour ago, Christian's Inferno! said: I think they liked it (at least when they recorded and promoted it) but I don't think they think it's one of their best works. Oh Billie definitely loves his power pop, but FOAM to me is different, more of a classic glam, funk sound (maybe like the outlier Kill the DJ that was Mike’s request) than usual. It was a choice to do something different or Longshot would have been a Green Day album for sure. Going back to a stripped down power pop of Trilogy or Longshot would be great. I think like with the Trilogy they enjoyed making it, then you put it out in the world, see the reception, have to perform it for confused less energetic audiences and you feel different.
alienlifeform
the good thing is that even if they push themsenves, it's quite impossible the next album be worst than Father Of All Motherfuckers.. so at least we are getting a better record next time, even if it stills not good

Big fully thought out record, yes. While I love the Boys’ work with Cavallo and CLA, I’d still be interested in hearing what they’d sound like under people outside their normal orbit. Someone like Nigel Godrich or hell even Giles Martin would be really cool. Just please not Butch Walker again

Clockwise
They should actually record the next album live to tape like they’ve been talking about doing forever.

THIS. and no song titles. It's 2021, nobody needs that bullcrap anymore. No artwork either. If I want ketchup smeared on a unicorn or whatever, I can do that myself. A cdr wrapped in white paper with music on it. Recorded like you said. With.....9 songs. Every single one of the exactly 4 minutes. Very, very, very, very heavy drum sound. I keep wanting to bow out of these "next album discussions". But I cannot.
