That's not meant to be sarcastic, I swear. It just sounds sarcastic no matter how I phrase it.

Also, to contribute meaningfully to this thread, IDK if Green Day is over but I'll sure be sad if they are. I still haven't made it to a concert! Even if they end though, I'll still love and appreciate the music they gave us. I have hope they're just going through a rough spot and will emerge from the ashes like a phoenix, as they did before with American Idiot. That's unlikely, I know, but I'll hold out hope.

OK, I think we all get it by now. A number of people here have made really rational arguments for why there is no reason to believe that Green Day would break up. As you all know, I think the idea of them breaking up is a ridiculous fantasy. But the people who keep mocking this thread are not helping either and are also just perpetuating the drama. I am not going to discuss details of anyone's private business here, but I will say that the person who made this thread is a 14-year-old child who is not well and dealing with more than anyone her age--or anyone period--should have to. So just as I asked everyone to have some empathy for Billie, please have some empathy for her too. I think this issue is resolved now and we should all just be quiet and let this thread die.

Saying that Billie’s bored of Green Day hardly seems like speculating about his personal life. If it was, I think this thread would’ve been shut down.

I would be kind to myself, but I am brutally honest. I don’t lie to spare people’s feelings (mainly because I don’t know when what I’m gonna say will hurt someone’s feelings). I can be a bitch when I want to, and I know it.  

You are among the few that have been completely civil this whole time, so I thank you for that.

I honestly don't care. I am worried about her and if this is what it takes to help then so be it. She already acknowledged in this thread that she wasn't OK. 

Anyway, I think assuming that Billie is bored with Green Day does start to border on personal speculation because we don't really have much evidence to back it up; it's just a random theory. There are many potential explanations for him seeming down, and he doesn't even seem that down to me. He's doing an awful lot of Green Day stuff for someone who doesn't want to be in Green Day. But anyway, I think this convo needs to end. We just keep saying the same things over and over.

Maybe not a direct speculation, but assuming Billie is bored of Green Day based solely on outside observation isn't logical when there's no way to know which of the countless variables in his life are causing him to appear or act a certain way. The only way to definitively find out what he's thinking and feeling is to ask him personally. You may not be addressing his private life directly, but making a statement like that does involve speculation about his inner self (which is dependent upon both his professional and personal life). I hope that's more clear. If it isn't, then I guess I'm failing at getting my point across and there's not much use for me continuing. Like @BillieMyLove said, I feel like we're saying the same things again and again so I think I'm done.

If you've been keeping up with FOAMF era and whatever this current era is (whether it's FOAMF era part 2 or not), then you've seen what I think are some pretty shitty performances. I honestly think this is the end for Green Day. Billie seems like he's not into it anymore. I think he wants to move on with his life, and understandably so. He's been working under the Green Day name for more that thirty years, and maybe the side projects aren't enough any more.

That said, your points make sense in a different universe.  I mean that quite literally but in the multiverse that we are in, BJA and the boys love to write and perform as do almost all writers and performers such as the Stones, McCartney, Cash, et al...Song writers and performers are different then pop bands even though the unfortunate advent of 'pop rock/punk' had to be created.  I mean Stairway and Elenor Rigby would be considered pop and there is a negative conotaton to the word.

Yeah, true but we all knew that was going to be the bottom of the barrel.  The best shows were the Longshot shows anyway and he rocked the fuck out at them.  Old school with completely new songs.  I'll honestly take Longshot all day TBH but yeah, like ya'll just peace out and wait for some new shit once it's allowed again.  And by the way, not just GD but there will be a "baby boom of music" (copyright 2021, ME ), because it will be like people who when they came back from the war, all fucked and thats why there was the baby boom in the 40s,50s...(your grandfathers were mostly baby boomers), the same thing will happen in music and film, and the other arts.  Take having to be stuck at home and then add the dystopian society that has ruled this last half decade and what do you have? 


A brighter place that will contain some of the greatest art as artists from comedians, musicians, poets are all inspired by tragedy and negative things (even the positive songs) and so I can't wait.

I doubt the band will split any time soon, there's no reason to. Are they finished musically? We'll have to see what the next album (or next several) are like. If the standard continues to be as abysmal as FOAM then yeah, they might be over. I really hope/expect that better music is round the corner, the band's history suggests it might be. Are they going to split? I can't see it, been together too long for it to make sense. They might start winding things down like a lot of older bands, equally they might continue to work at 110%.

It's not that deep, and I disagree with the OP. People are allowed to put 2 and 2 together, even if they come out with 5. I agree it's not logical, just it doesn't seem a big deal to make a comment on how Billie appears to be acting. It's a public appearance, OP has hardly raided his bins to try and get an insight into him or anything.
