I don't want to get pulled into this thread the way I have been pulled into other B.S. threads, so I am just going to say this: No one has to like the NFL performance. No one has to like FOAM. Hell, no one has to like Green Day anymore if they don't want to. But I see no evidence of the band ending. Will they change? I am sure they will: they have been changing for 30 years. Maybe they will change into something you don't like. That's fine too. But what I take issue with is people acting like they know what is in someone else's head and why they are acting certain ways. No one can possibly know those things. We are all dealing with way too much now, and Billie is no different. Should we sit here and feel bad for a rich and famous rock star on the same level that we would for the people who are sick with covid or have lost oved ones to it, or the people who have lost jobs and can't feed their kids and are about to be living on the streets? Absolutely not. But that doesn't mean we can't have some sensitivity. The lack of basic empathy for a fellow human being is appalling. He's a person; he's not a robot who just cranks out music. He has feelings like anyone else, and he is allowed to feel them. This reminds me of how women get chastised for "not smiling enough." Guess what: it's not OK to do that to a man either. It's not OK to do it to anyone. Billie is not obligated to slap on a smile 24/7 or act perky if he feels down. 

@Hungry Hungry Supermodels: I want to address you directly. Everyone knows I am the first person to call out personal attacks and the lack of civil disagreement on this site, but for the most part it seems that people are disagreeing with you civilly here. I think a couple people may have been a little rude, but I think you were also a little rude in the beginning and that prompted some people to respond in kind. Anyway, I am no shrink, but I can tell there is something going on here that has nothing to do with Green Day. I am worried about you. Is everything OK? Would you like to message me again and chat?

Bottomline: Green Day is not over. Never over. Mike and Tre looked happy and amazing and stoked, Jason looks how he always looks and I liked his pants... and Billie just looks like he’s had a sad soul for years (especially since the Trilogy or 21stCB and looks like he wants more life experience but NOT ENDING GREEN DAY FOR EFFS SAKE but like side projects and those little tours and producing new bands and going to regular parties and fun cool stuff normalish rock and roll heart stuff and getting inspiration for songs and whatever) and it was just so seemingly obvious there’s something off especially lately but he’s so pretty!!! It’s something else that’s making it feel weird lately. Not obvious or tangible to a journalist or a fan but something else. 
 

Who knows? But the performance was great and they looked great and NFL Super Bowl weekend is a big deal.

I mean, look at the moment Fleetwood Mac is having thanks to some guy on TikTok with a skateboard and a bottle of cranberry juice. I wouldn't be surprised if they put out some new music now--and they're like what, in they're 70s? You never know what the next big thing will be. Like I said, Green Day could have been over after Warning. They took a big risk re-inventing themselves with American Idiot, and it obviously paid big dividends. I know that they will continue to evolve, but they will still be Green Day, and I trust them to go in whatever direction is right for them.

I was responding at first, but I have a shit ton of homework, and the attention span of a goldfish. The whole debate spins in circles regardless of me responding or not. It's like watching one of those weird ass teen comedys (like Mean Girls, but no one's calling people sluts yet).

I think you have made my point for me. This thread is indeed going in a circle and not making any sense. We know how you feel on this issue, and now you know how others feel. I don't think there is much more left to say. I wasn't particularly calling you out about empathy; more so I just felt that was where things were heading in this thread in general.

Maybe think about your approach to a debate. When closed minded and rude (as you have been during this entire dumpster fire of a thread) it is impossible to have a conversation with anybody. Having conversations is a two-way thing whether it's with adults or people your own age.

I was pretty damn civil in the other thread. Trying to understand what she (and you) were expecting and why you think they are “over”, but you never gave reasons other than that they weren’t perfect and you hate FOA and started attacking the members of the band and speculating about their personal life. I even pointed out some resources for you both to look at to open your minds but you clearly aren’t open to others thoughts and opinions.

When did we speculate about their personal lives or attack them? 

When people made compelling points, we acknowledged them. I think that’s hardly close-minded. And for the record, I did listen to that podcast episode. 

Y’know every time we’ve disagreed about something (at least three times that’s i remember), I’ve noticed that your quick to be defensive and pass judgement. (Oh, but I guess you’re gonna say that’s not true and say that I’m attacking you 🙄).
