Popular Post Karol Oliveira
I'd like to add one more point about the NFL performance: they probably recorded each performance at least a couple of times and this is quite boring itself. And if the crew/direction isn't composed of nice people, it can get even more boring/annoying. This is just speculation, of course, but the point is that are so many factors we might not know. Heck, Billie could have been suffering from severe back pain at the time and was trying to hang in there... It was just one performance to draw any conclusions.
pacejunkie punk
Just to defend the OP for a second before they blow another gasket, the NFL performance might have been the thing that started this topic for them, but I think their opinion is based on the entire FOAM period too, not just one performance. I admit there were times I thought Billie really hated doing FOAM promotion, judging by his level of distraction during interviews and mistakes performing, though I never thought it meant he was sick of Green Day and wanted to end it. Carry on...

Carry on... But the Seville show was great! I'm going to speculate a little bit more here: maybe Billie's patience for promoting an album is wearing thin - he's been doing this for over 25 years - but it doesn't mean he's getting tired of Green Day, you know. I mean, I totally get it if this is the case... Can you imagine how boring it is to go to all those TV shows, being interviewed by a lot of people, etc?

And if anything I think the frustration of making an album in January 2019, promoting it in September and then not being able to release it until February 2020 or tour until March was frustratingly slow. Hard to get excited for a tour that’s a year away. We felt that too. And that five month wait for the album? That’s an archaic system. It’s not Green Day that’s a drag but the machinery of the business

Carry on... I’m on the same page about this. It’s undeniable that he’s been distracted and pretty listless throughout the promo. But I just think it makes no sense to be like “he doesn’t like green day anymore boo hoo”, because we can’t really know and if I was to guess, I would say he just wasn’t in the best mood and it shows, even though he does his best to be professional. You can’t fake an energy, but I still respect his craft.

Popular Post Mato
What a random and dumb thread, and even more dumb way of unnecessary generalizing. It's like saying: ''is the world over?'', ''will an asteroid destroy us?'', ''will the next car on the street run me over?''. There's always a small possibility for everything, but you can't live your life like that, you'll go crazy. I don't understand how someone can, after FOAM, an unfortunatelly postponed huge stadium tour and The Network album, have the nerve of asking such a dumb thing? Just because a 14 year old got a feeling Billie was bored or uninterested isn't really a reason for discussion. Well, I guess I've just answered my own question.. And yes, of course The Network IS Green Day, and Green Day IS The Network. It's been fun playing the game, but for sake of your own thread, stop bullshiting that that's not the case. They've actually put a lot more work into MM2020 Part II than you'd actually think. It's definitely not just a half assed joke album. It's well thoght out and it has a pretty great production. There's a fucking pandemic going on and everyone is going mental and can't fucking wait for it to be over. If I feel that, a 14 year old feels that, then of course Billie and the rest of the band is feeling it. Gosh 9

I also have a feeling he really doesn’t like doing interviews and it’s almost like he tries to answer without having to go in depth.

Hermione
Can people be civil to each other here please? There's no need to include personal insults towards the OP or for anyone to speak to each other rudely. Also if anyone feels the thread is pointless or whatever then just don't post in it, once there's nothing else to say it will die. We prefer to let threads live or die on their own (unless they have duplicates, break the rules or are spam etc) rather than judging whether they're "threadworthy" or not ourselves.

Popular Post jengd
I can completely see that some people like some music when others don’t, of course, we all do, it’s all subjective however I don’t think it’s wise to draw too much from one performance, and a fairly strange one for them at that. Let me be clear, when I say strange I mean there being no audience, it really only being partly about GD, so much of the performance we were seeing was nfl footage as opposed to the band, it being a medley of three songs, much of the songs played without the vocals and the fact there was just four of them, etc. We have no idea how weird it was them for beforehand, just so different with the pandemic and also, Billie was obviously in full, professional mode, concentrating on his performance rather than messing around or interacting with the audience and I have to say here I thought they were a great choice of songs. How would you define him looking happier? If he had smiled more, really is it that simple? He was singing serious songs in front of a potentially huge audience, if he’d been grinning that would have been really strange.
Popular Post Todd
Billie Joe went to rehab and they cancelled an entire tour, and the band didn’t end there. Just because the NFL show didn’t sound very good, that gives no indication that they’re giving up. They gave us a four-LP Network album; not because they wanted to, but because it was 2020 and they felt obligated. They did that for the fans, they work for us. I know how much the guys love the fanbase. They’ll keep hammering away at new material. They’ll keep playing shows. If they didn’t enjoy it, they would have stopped long ago. Now what I will say, is it’s obvious they enjoy playing smaller club and theater shows the most. I doubt we’ll ever get another tour as massive as the 21st Century Breakdown tour. The guys are older and just won’t have the stamina for a tour that long. But that’s okay, normal-sized tours like Hella Mega are just fine.

I think the OP is referring to Billie's seeming lack of enthusiasm, or mistaking his approproate-for-the-occasion performance as such.
Beerjeezus
In my experience, when you’re talking to someone on the internet and they avoid responding to any of your arguments so the whole debate spins in a circle, there’s a good chance you’ve encountered a troll.
