Yosuke Hanamura
Looks like Tre gave away where they’re playing. Gotta say, pretty sweet backdrop!

He wouldn't go for the hobo look when it's Green Day, unless the quarantine did a number on him 1

If they do a show like during the New Orleans Saints game it can be ok. I think Green Day can do a show without swearing everytime. I think it's gonna happen again but when they will be at the end of their carreer.
Squashie
Honestly, I think their “language” is the least worrisome thing. Justin Timberlake was invited back AFTER the “nip slip” with Janet Jackson. The artists who have recently been on don’t exactly have the cleanest song lyrics. And actually GD’s lyrics are THAT explicit and if the station was doing their jobs at the delay, then a word slip wouldn’t be a big deal. Green Day have already done plenty of NFL performances (the Saints game, the Jets game with the American Idiot Broadway cast, etc.). And they certainly can behave when they have to LOL. But a Super Bowl Halftime Show is different. And the NFL has been burned many times (Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction, conservatives flipping out over last year's performance by Shakira and J Lo, etc.). Halftime shows always seem to end up being controversial and people would find a way to make it even more so with Green Day. 3 minutes ago, Squashie said: Honestly, I think their “language” is the least worrisome thing. I think it's less about language and more about their outspokenness. If they are given a platform like that you know they will use it to make a statement and then a bunch of people's hair is going to be set on fire. They had about that same time allotment at the NHL all star game and zero “statement” was made. Their last “statement” during a performance was the AMA in 2016. They performed that same award show in 2019 with zero said. The person they wanted to win the election won and is in office. What “statement” is he going to make? I mean, there is still a hella lot wrong with this world that he could make statements on. Joe Biden can't wave a magic wand and make it all better LOL. This is only the beginning, not the end. I just feel like when you have a platform like the Super Bowl where basically the entire nation (and probably a good chunk of other nations too) is watching, that's the place to make your statement. And I support that. But I think that's what the NFL is afraid of.
pacejunkie punk
I think now that the election is over and the Dems are back in control people are feeling more optimistic and supportive of the government so it’s not time to make a statement. That’s why I doubt they’ll play a political song tomorrow night.

I mean, a lot of people are feeling better, but there are also millions of crazies like those who attempted to break into the Capitol and overthrow the government who are refusing to accept the legitimacy of the election. The threat of domestic terrorism has really never been hire. And that DHS and the military saying that. We are very far from out of the woods and things may well get worse before they get better. This is a band that has performed on National TV without making statements numerous times over the last 15 years. At most, they’d play holiday or AI and that’s hardly a political statement. That’s pandering to playing hits for an audience. clearly the NFL isn’t THAT worried about them since they invited them to perform for their awards show - which is broadcast on National TV (Pre-recorded or not).
Cali89
So excited for this!! I've been looking forward to it all week 😁 Couldn't care less about football but I'm definitely going to sit through this show just for their performance. Hope they do at least a couple of songs Edited February 6, 2021 by Lindsey_gd89
Cunt
Why the fuck does everything have to be about politics and making a statement? Just enjoy the damn music. My god. 3
Redundantuserjinxboy
best case scenario: they preform a new hit single off a new suprise album thats full of bangers (not gonna happen ) good scenario: they play Nice Guys Finish Last (3/10 likliness) bad scenario: they preform Father of All (6/10 likeliness) Worst case scenario: It actually turns out to be a completely pre recorded performance of Oh Yeah again. (wont happen....)
Yosuke Hanamura
As long as they play something rockin’, I don’t care what it is. Yes, that includes Father of All... 3

That would be way too adventurous for their seltist I remember when 21 Guns (full-band) was one of the least adventurous songs they could play.
