Green Day to Perform on NFL Honors - Feb 6th

Well, it's not a theory or a guess. It's autotune, plain and simple.

That doesn't mean his vocal performance overall wasn't good overall, or couldn't have sounded fine without this applied. But somewhere in process, whether it was approved by Green Day or out of their control, autotune has been applied.

As people here and elsewhere prove, though, it's not much of a risk of causing a backlash since the majority won't even notice it to begin with.

To my ears it couldn't be much more obvious. I create and mix music myself, it's difficult to mistake this for something else. It's not due to reverb or any other effect. :)

How can you tell the difference between autotune and pitch correction?

Mainly the artifacts caused, most apparant during the word "about".

Whatever method used the purpose is the same: to correct a vocal that's off pitch, either automatically (probably the case here since it's not better implemented) or more manually by hand.

Well I wasn't THAT wrong at least.
I knew something was up.

I watched it again when GD officially posted it on their yt channel, and I forgot to say that in Basket Case when he sings "Sometimes I give myself the creeps" and Mike is supposed to do the backing vocals but he didn't and it was just Billie, I liked that a lot. I mean, I prefer the traditional BC but this was also great, I don't think I've heard him sing alone before, it's a nice way to switch it a little bit.

Honestly, I don’t mind. Artists are allowed to use anything that can help them to achieve their goal, including post production software. I don’t like it when they use samples in Oh Yeah, but that’s because it looks dumb so it’s a whole another story.

I don't get why pitch correction should be that dramatic. That was no live performance, it was recorded and shown to a really big audience on TV. I think that in such situations it is completely normal to eq and pitch-correct the vocals. Nobody would ever complain about compressing the drums either.

Oh I really don't care if they used pitch correction. I was just saying that there was.

Same. I don‘t like the backing tracks in Oh Yeah or FRA too 😅

Just watched the performance. Great performance of Still Breathing and Holiday which I otherwise find Billie tends to struggle with. Finally the backup vocals were loud and clear, which always makes it so much better! Too bad the songs were cut short, but I get why they did that. So good to see the boys in action, and they all look great. I love Billies more natural look and Jason do be cute as fuck with his lil dance moves.
