Popular Post jumpsalty
The heck is everyone talking about, soulless performance?! They’ve been out of action going on a year just like the rest of the world, probably not doing band practice (unlike they would be during regular downtime) and they still sounded great. Plus no audience always changes the energy, obvs. These performances will be different for a while - yeah they’re a band but still have to be shown to be distancing where possible, hence two missing members. I think all things considered it was a great performance, but the word appropriate springs to mind, too. It was appropriate given everything that’s happened and still happening.

SMH... some of you will never be satisfied because it’s not 2004 anymore. Reair old footage- bitching. New performance-bitching. They have lost it. I haven’t seen a knock out performance from them since RevRad era. That’s saying something since they used to be the best live band ever imo. With every new performance, I start to wonder if we’re nearing the end. I think we are. Green Day’s getting tired. They’re becoming just another classic rock band. And honestly, 2004 wasn’t even their best.
Popular Post Little Boy Named Booze
Why do people are bitchin about yesterday performance when it was more than perfect? Complaining about the FOAM release party yeh I get it but yesterday was fucking good. First appearance in like a year and they crushed it!

Popular Post pacejunkie punk
I admit I haven’t seen a flawless performance since the RevRad era but that was just the last tour. Green Day haven’t played together publicly much since 2017 the 2019-20 promotion only included a couple of live shows. They should have completed another tour by now so it’s really hard to judge where they’re at compared to promotion which often seems like a chore and less fun than shows. Regardless, I know they were happy just to be able to play together for the public again here even if they for sure would have preferred that it be for an in person audience. I don’t know, I’m not ready to give up on these guys based on what little we’ve seen since 2017, even with the bumps.

If you seach for some on youtube, you can find a lot of performances. Not wanting to give up on them is understandable. Part of me still thinks they can come back, but it has been more than 30 years. I guess we should just be glad that they like each other enough to play a show at this point.
Beerjeezus
I also think it’s important to judge with some empathy... What I’m saying is - yeah, some of the FOAM era performances seemed unenthusiastic or they just weren’t great, but that doesn’t mean everything is lost forever. No one is perfect all the time. 2

If they underwhelm you THAT much then don't watch/listen.
Banjodewulf2247
Last night was amazing!!!! I just can't wait to see them live if that ever happens. I've had these hell mega tour tickets in my pockets since 2019. 3
Popular Post Mato
Some people just love forcing being ''different'' and saying bullshit nonsense just for sake of attention. Green Day still is and will always be one of the best live and overall best bands of all time. Loved the performance. Billie's vocals haven't been this spot on in while. Overall it sounded really good and fairly well mixed. 7

greendepent
It was a good performance considering they played to serve as a background music. Is not like you go and play a song you were performing for 15 years and now changing it in the fly. What I don't like is the mixing. Those drums need some glue. And not only in this performance, pretty much all the foam performances have something that I feel misplaced sonically. I guess is part of the experimentation

Ellen - Talk show, 1 song Corden - Talk show, 1 song GMA - Morning show following the Golden Globes, 1 song TGA - 2 songs - and not a GD centered audience (gamers...) iHeart - 5 songs - not a GD centered audience (still sounded great and won the crowd over in 20 minutes) KROC - not their best; I admit Seville - classic GD The are far from "losing it". Like I said, if they underwhelm you that much, then move on to another band. They are humans and are not perfect every show/appearance. And to expect that from them will only lead you to continued disappointment. 7

It’s interesting how it seems that everyone sees these performances differently - I thought KROQ was really good and that the 2019 Stern show seemed tired compared to the 2016 performance when I watched them in chronological order. But the bottom line is that they’re still a tight band.

Of this list the only I can think of that was underwhelming/bad was the KROC one, but even that was THAT bad. Most of this list is 1-song appearances so hard to judge off of one song. Which was Oh Yeah! for most of these and they were getting better at it as they went along. Not the best choice for an appearance, I agree. 13 minutes ago, Beerjeezus said: It’s interesting how it seems that everyone sees these performances differently - I thought KROQ was really good and that the 2019 Stern show seemed tired compared to the 2016 performance when I watched them in chronological order. But the bottom line is that they’re still a tight band. Someone forgetting lyrics doesn't make a "bad" show for me. I've been to multiple where lyrics have been lost. Bad to me is out tune/key, off time with beat and just blah. The only artist I can honestly say I was underwhelmed with live was Puddle of Mudd and that wasn't because they sounded bad. They just didn't have any interaction with the audience. They sounded fine and were tight as a unit. I enjoyed the KROC show. They were joking with Bean & Kevin and the audience. Billie forgot some words... I do that daily and I'm younger than he is. I view TV appearances way different than concerts. This was TV and for TV it was great. But yes, bottom line- Green Day is still a tight band. To the Stern Show appearance: I didn't enjoy the 2019 Stern show as much as 2016. Howard needs some new questions because he asked the same ones.

Alan86
Just watched this now and thought it was a solid performance, really like that they played “still breathing “ for this. The video I saw had NFL clips mixed in with the performance, I presume this is the only way it aired, or is there a version with just the performance by Green Day?
