Scumfuc Waste
I've noticed many green days fans seem to prefer american idiot or dookie as their favourite album. If you like one of these two more than the others, tell me: What is it you like about A.I./Dookie that you don't notice in Nimrod? (This thread is not meant to argue or be condescending, just curious, because nimrod is my favourite and I can't see how people wouldn't like it as much as the other two, so I started this thread maybe so I could see how people like the other two.)
Annie, get your gun
Nimrod is my 2nd favorite album (after American Idiot) and that's because I find lots of GD styles in there, and topics too (love, hate, loneliness, memories, jokes, sadness, pain - you know) But AI is special to me for personal reasons. By the way, I don't like to compare albums, in my opinion Nimrod doesn't lack anything at all that makes it less than the others (that happen to be more popular) it's just a different record. jengd
I love Nimrod. I am never able to say which is my fav as I think they all bring something different so I have ones I listen to doing different things, e.g. I iron to Insomniac, yes I know how sad that sounds 😁. Like to drive to a nimrod and sing along, think it has great singalong qualities!
Beerjeezus
I like Nimrod.
That Dude
Nimrod is the album that got me into Green Day, punk and alternative. In those ways it's their most important album. I don't know what lies ahead, but I certain that my top 3 will remain my top 3. Idiot / Nimrod / Warning Warning techinally wins over Nimrod because I go by percentages and I kind of don't like Haushinka so much and Warning has no weak track. But going by my heart, Nimrod means more and the 17 songs that aren't Haushinka rock my world. Nimrod - either 2nd or 3rd best.
Hermione
Dookie and AI are just their most popular and successful albums. That doesn't mean Green Day fans don't also like their other albums. A couple of the more out-there songs (Last Ride In and Take Back) sometimes get criticised but I think it's very rare to see Nimrod as a complete album get hate. In fact when I go through all their albums in my head, I'm pretty sure every single one of them besides Dookie and AI receives more criticism or has more of a love/hate divide than Nimrod, it's a beloved album among Green Day fans. 39/Smooth/Kerplunk - too rough sounding Insomniac - too angry Warning - too folksy/acoustic 21st CB - too overblown/failed attempt to recreate AI Uno/Dos/Tre/FOAM - too much partying and/or bad production Rev Rad - too boring These albums have common criticisms/reasons for being disliked. There's reasons some people dislike Nimrod (and Dookie and AI) too but I think it's less common.
The Grohl
I love Nimrod but I would call Dookie my fav because not only do I think it's a nearly flawless album, it's the album I really connected with Green Day. AI would follow for obvious reasons.

Little Boy Named Booze
Well so this thread shoud be called ''Why do you love Nimrod?''
Bakabanas
Nimrod is what got me into Green Day in 2008. I downloaded their discography, and reached Nimrod, Worry Rock started playing, and I thought "wow, this band is sincere". Best decision ever. 3
Guest
AI is my favorite album and then after that it gets hard to choose. Each is beautiful and special in it's own way. I love Nimrod. Some of my favorite songs from it include Redundant, Scattered, Platypus (I Hate You), King for a Day, and Good Riddance (Time of Your Life). In fact those last two are two of my all-time favorite Green Day songs. There are a lot of different things going on in Nimrod that make it really unique. Gonzalo17
Nimrod is a very good album as a whole album, almost all the songs are good (8/10 averange), but any perfect (10 /10) song, like AI or dookie
Met Fan
Insomniac was my favorite Green Day album before AI came out, I wouldn't say "I don't like" Nimrod, it's just at the third place. I still enjoy it!
Pereprimus
nimrod came as a surprise at the time, people expected GD to do a dookie or insomniac clone, it wasn't so it didn't sold as it should, but to me it's a special album I've got nimrod on : tape vynil 2 different editions CD iTunes I must say.... that's the only GD album I got more than twice and that's the only one I could want to listen to at any period in fact, we don't like nimrod because .... we love it Edited December 14, 2020 by Pereprimus
Popular Post DeJennsitized
Nimrod is definitely my favourite 90s GD album, and 21CB probably my favourite post 2000. And what they have in common is the diversity of sound within the album I guess, and that appeals to me. Everyone has their faves but I can see that Dookie and AI have a cohesiveness and specific identity that other albums maybe don't? I think every album has its unique strength though. 3
MarriedtoMikeDirnt
Nimrod is in my top three. Love it to death. The songs that shine really shine, and the hidden gems (like Uptight) are what makes it so good. I can't say that there's a single song on there that I don't love (not counting Good Riddance, but that's only because it's terribly overplayed). I think the only reason it's not my favorite album of all time is because 39/Smooth beat it out. 3
Guest
So I am actually listening to Nimrod right now and am pleasantly surprised to remember how amazing all the songs are (yes @That Dude, even Haushinka). It's an amazing album.
Doggins
I loved Nimrod when it came out, but I never listen to it now - haven't in many years I don't think it's aged well in my opinion - in saying that there are some absolute classics on there, but a lot of filler

If we compare all Billie Joe projects, Haushinka is better than Gimme Some Truth. This has taken the crown for worst song by Billie. Haushinka is still the worst original. Love that song. But I'm not gonna lie, it can be really annoying. The chorus is the worst part of the song, and that's only because of the harmonies. The chorus reminds me of Road to Acceptance.
Scumfuc Waste
You guys are making me pause my korn CD for this, now I have to look up haushinka and listen again cause I don't remember that song sucking, I thought that good riddance was the lame one on the album. Okay update: what is wrong with you guys? this is one of the best on the album! the chorus is the best part! That Dude is a total opposite person as me. If you guys think haushinka sucks then you haven't listened to their newest release, Father Of All Motherfuckers. That "EP masquerading as an album" (Tre's Busted Drumkit called it that, I agree with him) is really so bad that it makes me wanna buy a weezer album to get into them and forget green day, that's how bad FOAMF was.

I have to be in the mood for that one, otherwise it's annoying).

trambopoline
yeah what the hell is up with all this Haushinka hate? that's easily one of my favorite songs on the record sincerely asking, btw. I don't understand what's not to like about it- feels like a quintessential Green Day deep cut to me
